A young woman, no, a child in fact, is tied up and chained to the basement wall of a
trucker’s basement, just waiting to be ravished by whatever sick men the man can find to pay.
She is skinny and young, a virgin, so she will fetch a pretty price. She hears talking upstairs,
negotiations, and then suddenly the basement door opens, where she is then unchained and led to
a car. She takes a ride with this stranger to his house where she is stripped and overpowered,
raped, all for the satisfaction of one man, and the profit of another. She has been sold, as a slave
prostitute, where she will shamefully live out her youth until she is no longer a worthwhile
product. Unfortunately, this is just one manner of human trafficking, and a stereotyped

Not all men that sell women are truck drivers, and not all people that sell the victims are
men. The victims also can range in age and gender, in fact, one third of sex trafficked people are
men. Workers are not always for sex, in fact they can be working at factories and in fields,
producing foods you eat every day. These slaves have no voice of their own, despite there being
more than 29 million of them worldwide. However, other people can give them a voice, and can
help free them and end human trafficking. One problem is that there is not enough attention
drawn to it. Congressman Hurd’s ad uses bold lettered facts, a black and white scheme, and
images to successfully achieve its purpose of shining a light on the fastest growing criminal
enterprise in the world.
The ad is all white words and images on a pitch black background. It has two facts,
“Human trafficking is the fastest-growing business of crime and the third-largest criminal
enterprise in the world” where “fastest-growing” and “third-largest” are bigger than the other
text and bold. On the left side of the ad is a pale white pair of handcuffs. Below the words in the
middle is a barcode and directly under that is “End Trafficking” with trafficking being bold.
Country to country, person-to-person, human trafficking is becoming a bigger and bigger issue all across the globe, including right here in the United States. Human trafficking is said to be a form of modern-day slavery, subjecting its victims to commercial sex, debt bondage, and forced labor through force, fraud, or coercion. There are often no easily identifiable victims as they come in all ages, genders, and races. There are said to be at least 2.4 million victims of human trafficking across the globe at any given time, leading to profits of $32 billion for the criminal masterminds behind such trafficking operations, making it the second most lucrative criminal industry behind narcotics. Despite the abundance of victims, it is estimated that fewer than 30% of all countries report at least 10 trafficking convictions a year, and 20% of countries do not even have an offense for trafficking. An additional 20% of countries have an offense for trafficking but still report no convictions of the offense. Without an organized coalition to help prevent such atrocities, it is left up to national governments to come up with solutions for their respective nations, and many governments do not possess the know-how or effort needed to combat these crimes.
The narrator begins the story by recounting how she speculates there may be something wrong with the mansion they will be living in for three months. According to her the price of rent was way too cheap and she even goes on to describe it as “queer”. However she is quickly laughed at and dismissed by her husband who as she puts it “is practical in the extreme.” As the story continues the reader learns that the narrator is thought to be sick by her husband John yet she is not as convinced as him. According
As many know, bold and vibrant colors can do a lot for an ad in its aims to turn heads and grab attentions. This ad happens to take a sharp turn away from the common belief that big, bold colors are the only sure-fire way to make an advertisement eye-catching. With this being true, one might wonder why this particular ad doesn't take full advantage of sparkling pigments and exciting color schemes. It takes a different, yet tasteful approach with their choice of color incorporation that proves to be very effective, and much more fitting than sparkling glitter. This advertisement is fairly simple: it displays a greyscale image of a man standing tall amid barren terrain. There is nothing more to this image, other than the quote “Remember My Name” across his stern face.
The ad is called “Someone waits at home, Don’t drink and drive.” The ad is about a guy
There are many denotations in this ad. There is a man, three women, bags, sides of buildings, a chair, writing on a window, a sidewalk-like walkway, a bottle of Southern Comfort, some white lines, and two lines of copy. The first line of copy reads, "Your free time may have changed. Your drink doesn't have to." The second line reads, "Hang on to your spirit." There is also a division in the ad, the top two-thirds of the ad being the photo image and the bottom one third being a black background.
The ad itself appears to be in a military instructional setting. The viewer’s eye is immediately drawn to the central focus of the document; a strong, physically fit African American woman in a combat stance, facilitating the techniques of martial arts. The entire ad is almost devoid of color, using instead, shading and highlighting strategies to draw the eye through the ad in the manner intended. Most of the ad is darkly shaded and blurred, lighter shades are used in the backdrop directly behind the woman highlighting her as the standout and the most important feature of the advertisement. Looking further, the viewer sees a group of Marines surrounding and beneath the woman focusing upward, as if she is on a stage giving a demonstration. Whereas the female is clearly outlined and visible, the surrounding men are darkened, almost blurry. She is obviously the boss here.

“[A] mom secured a "certificate of virginity" from a doctor for her daughter and sold the girl to man who raped her in a hotel for two days. After the ordeal, [the girl] was sold to brothels on three occasions and finally escaped to a safe house after learning that her mom planned to send her away for a six-month prostitution stint. ”(Goldberg, 2015) This is only one form of human trafficking, and it is quite shocking that it is so prevalent in the world today. But what is human trafficking exactly? Can it really be that big? If it is so big why hasn’t it been stopped? All of those are excellent questions, but none of those even begin to scratch the surface of human trafficking and how awful it is. Questioning it is not going to do anything for the people that are suffering in the world of human trafficking,
A Swiss cognitive psychologist by the name of Jean Piaget once said, “The principal goal of education is to create men [and women] who are capable of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other generations have done.” Now that we have read the facts and are well informed, it is up to every single one of us to do something with them. Every day we choose to ignore it and turn the other way, countless victims are suffering in their misery, wondering when someone is going to come and find them, thinking that they are not worth being found. Child sex trafficking is reaching an all time high, and is becoming one of the richest businesses in the world. People need to spread the information, and be more aware of this monumental issue. People need to act. We are no longer unaware.
The ad was published back in 2011 in Missouri. After reviewing the ad I noticed that there is a young child in black and white with a look of concern on his face and he seems to be looking right at you. The ad has a light blue background and words in large yellow font with message “ The Most Dangerous Place for an An African American is the Womb.” The ad also displays another smaller message in black “Over 37 % of Missouri’s abortions are performed on African American, who comprise 12% of our population.”I placed a picture of the ad below:
Today in our society Human Trafficking is bigger than ever. Men, women, and children are being stolen and traded for sex and labor everyday. As a society we need to stand up and fight against the Traffickers. Human Trafficking needs to be brought to the attention of everyone. we as human beings need to implement a plan to stop trafficking of humans. In addition we need to provide help to people who have been trafficked. Finally it's important to inform every American and even more important to inform the leaders of our country about this awful crime.
Since women are more likely to depend on their husbands for support, often times they are forced into the migrant work of the sex trade if the husband is unable to provide or they become widowed. “As commercial sex is illegal in most countries, traffickers use the resulting illegal status of migrant women that have been trafficked into commercial sex to threaten or coerce them against leaving” (U.S. Department of State). Although women are targeted at much higher rates than men, Anti-trafficking programs and institutions do not focus their efforts directly on
The ad itself is fairly large, taking up four full pages, which feel a little bit thicker than the pages in the rest of the magazine. Many people will notice the ad not only because of its size but also because of its coloring. All four pages of the ad are filled with eye-catching green grass and a bright blue sky. On the first page, lying on top of the grass are various models of the High Definition Televisions from Samsung and a playful looking girl with her back turned away from the televisions and her ...
