Introduction

In order to obtain peer reviewed research articles related to the impact of the psychological contract on job satisfaction in community mental health care workers it is important to review research that has been completed in a variety of researchers and in different settings. The databases that were selected to locate peer reviewed articles for this paper where Academic Search Complete and ProQuest Psychology. Tutorials were available for each of these databases and ProQuest was used to learn how to navigate through the data base since it was not a familiar data base to this author.

ProQuest is a database that offers a variety of options in completing a search. A researcher can select to do a basic search, an advanced search, or look for topics or publications. The search engine enables a search to be expanded to include related topics, select peer reviewed only as well as allows a search within specific date ranges which eliminates the time it takes to wade through results and identify dates that are current. Another option that is offered to the researcher is a list of suggestions of keywords or related topics to what the researcher has requested in the search. The key words that were used to obtain articles from each of the databases used were psychological contract, job satisfaction, work attitudes and organizational change.

The article selected from the Academic Search Complete was, A Methodological Approach to Developing a Measure of the Psychological Contract for Managers. ...e looked at the importance of motivation and the effect it has on workers and includes reference to the psychological contract. Using SU library databases was comfortable with limited effort associated with the review and selection of articles that are peer reviewed and credible rather than a web based search that is time consuming and information may be questionable.
