A database management system (DBMS) is a collection of programs that's enable you to store, modify, and extract information from a database (Smitha, 2006). DBMSs have many different types that are run on a personal computer as a small system to large systems that are run on mainframes. An example of database function is like flight reservation system, hotel computerized system and clinic system.
DBMS also is a computer program created to manage the database and implement operations on the data requested by the comprehensive consumer. DBMSs are found in majority database applications and DBMSs sometimes built on private multitasking kernel with built - in networking support even though these functions today are left to the operating system. A database application is computer software that is written to handle specific application data. In database management systems, data is consisting in three levels, namely physical level, the concept level and user level.
Information requested from the database is created in the form of a question by question stylized. This is from a technical standpoint and the way DBMS organizes information internally.
Information from the database can be presented in various formats. Mostly DBMSs include a report writer program that allows you to output data in a report. In addition, many DBMSs also include a graphics component that enables you to output information in the form of graphs and charts.
According to Gerald Kowalski (1997), information systems are capable of storing, retrieval, and maintenance information. Information in this context can be consisting of text (including numeric and date data), images, audio, video, and other multi-object. There are three main areas that make up the system infor...

...tations of storage , memory, and processing, relational databases and spreadsheets using structured data is the only way to manage the data effectively. Anything that can not fit into a tight structure that needs to be kept on paper in filing cabinets . Examples of structured data is a database , XML data , and data warehouses .
On the other hand , unstructured data (UD) usually refers to information does not reside in a traditional row - column database . UD usually not stored in a relational database or as is traditionally defined. Where is the data model associated with the meaning of the data. It is the opposite of the SD and the data stored in a field in the DB. UD files often include text and multimedia content. UD Examples include e - mail, word processing documents , videos, pictures , audio files , presentations , websites, and many other types of business
An information system is a “collection of software, hardware, procedures, data and computer networks used by people in organizations” (). Managers can use computer-based
There are two types of data. They are unstructured and multi-structured. Unstructured data comes from information that isn’t organized or easily interpreted by traditional databases or data models. This is usually in text format.
A database is a structured collection of data. Data refers to the characteristics of people, things, and events. Oracle stores each data item in its own field. For example, a person's first name, date of birth, and their postal code are each stored in separate fields. The name of a field usually reflects...
The first type of Big Data used in military logistics is the structured data, which is data that has been stored in the databases in an orderly manner. In military logistics, the two sources of structured data are machines and humans. Examples include GPS data, usage statistics of vehicles, ships and aircrafts, and data from medical devices. The second type of structured data is unstructured data, which is data that resides in the traditional column databases and have no clear format in storage. Examples include the mobile data, and data from satellite images about certain terrains (Sagiroglu & Sinanc, 2013).
meta data - data about the data itself, such as logical database design or data dictionary definitions
Modern organizations use a variety of resources to fulfill their objectives regardless if the company is a multinational or small entity, they all have a set of resources they depend on to achieve their goals. Part of the resource relied on is Information, and this information needs to be managed to optimize its value to produce the best stakeholder value they can. In order to manage these resources, Information Management systems are put in place.
In this database what we can identify are the table, record, field and field value. Firstly the table also known as the File, highlighted in green this contains e.g. record of the entire patients. Moving on to the record which are placed in each row (in red) shows a gathering of data for a specific element. A field or column displayed in yellow is a particular element of data shared to all records.
From the diagram below show how the DBMS working. First stage is database; database is a place for structured set of data held in a computer, especially one that is accessible in various ways. For example is student name, i/c and ID, from the information the lecture can access their profile, result and other. Second stage is database management system which means the place for the data will combine together. Third stage is application program which means the all data have been separate according their functions. As example, the lecture need to know about student result just enter their information and click the result button. The information will appear. Last stage is end user which means the lecturer
Satzinger, Jackson & Burd (2010, pp. 488) further states that DBMS “provide designers, programmers and end users with sophisticated capabilities to store, retrieve and manage data”. Sharing and managing the vast amount of data needed by a modern organisation simply would not be possible without a database management system.
Database management system (DBMS) is a collection of interrelated data and a set of programs to access the data. The collection of data, usually referred to as a database, contains the information related to the Company, the company's system at workplace, detailed information as an example employee personal information stored in the data. The goal of a database management system is to provide a way how to store and retrieve data information more efficiently. For examples, of the data, consider the name, telephone number and address are known, the recorded data is indexed address book, can be stored on a floppy disk, using a personal computer and software such as dBase IV or V, Microsoft Access or Excel
A database management system is a collection of programs that allow users to create and maintain a database. Even though there are numerous advantages for using database management systems, there are a few disadvantages. Such disadvantages include complexity, size, performance, and the associated costs of a database management system. The advantages of a database management system outweigh the disadvantages, but one should understand the disadvantages to ensure they have a complete understanding of the system.
Databases are becoming as common in the workplace as the stapler. Businesses use databases to keep track of payroll, vacations, inventory, and a multitude of other taske of which are to vast to mention here. Basically businesses use databases anytime a large amount of data must be stored in such a manor that it can easily be searched, categorized and recalled in different means that can be easily read and understood by the end user. Databases are used extensively where I work. In fact, since Hyperion Solutions is a database and financial intelligence software developing company we produce one. To keep the material within scope I shall narrow the use of databases down to what we use just in the Orlando office of Hyperion Solutions alone.
Turning to the issues related to information handling, the definition of the information management should be mentioned. According to Hinton’s perspective (2006, p.57) the information management is “the conscious process of gathering information”. A brief overview of the presumable information sources in a high-technology company can help to outline the situation. T...
Example of the non-structured data is an email and the word processing documents. An email is the message that being distributed into the recipients using an electronic. It is being sent from one computer user to another user. Example of the word processing documents is the Microsoft excel. It is spreadsheets that being produce by the Microsoft for calculating, graphic tools, pivot tables and a macro programming language. This is because the files may have internal structure but it is considered as the non-structured data because the data in the database is still unstructured.
In our world, people rely heavily on the power of technology every day. Kids are learning how to operate an iPad before they can even say their first word. School assignments have become virtual, making it possible to do anywhere in the world. We can receive information from across the world in less than a second with the touch of a button. Technology is a big part of our lives, and without it life just becomes a lot harder. Just like our phones have such an importance to us in our daily lives, database management systems are the same for businesses. Without this important software, it would be almost impossible for companies to complete simple daily tasks with such ease.
