It is the year 2015. Technology immerses us into a pit of pleasure, ease and luxury. We are enlightened by fancy Smartphones, fast computers, and simple online shopping. At this point, the human race is striving to create or destroy anything that is willing to harm us. We are at war against ourselves and we are not taking enough action against the fatal occurrences that happen everyday. We collect data to show the safeties and dangers of activities that we participate in every day, but we continue to emerge ourselves deeper and deeper into the statistic that automobile accidents are. The dangers of the automobile are far more significant than you may believe, and you could be the one involved in making statistic numbers increase. When you are putting an undeveloped brain behind the wheel, they could leave your life at any moment of any day. Although they aren’t alone, teenage drivers are the most significant risk of automobile accidents for three key reasons. They are more likely to take risks, they lack driving experience, and the path to getting their driver’s license lacks any actual difficulty.

Remember that one time you sped up to make it through that yellow or red light, hoping that it wouldn’t slow your travel time down by a few minutes? You were taking a risk that ultimately wasn’t worth it and endangering the innocent lives that you share the road with. The odds of another car hitting you, or vice-versa from any other side of the intersection is greater than you think. As soon as that happens, that could be it. Nothing would matter anymore. Being late for your dentist appointment, or beating the lunch rush at McDonald’s, doesn’t matter anymore, because you’re dead. Cars will never be completely safe, death will always be present in anything that occurs in our nation, and you’re never going to prevent automobile accidents, but if we can prevent them by taking simple actions, we must to secure our future. These actions need to be taken as soon as possible because it is pointless to let collisions as frequent as they do. It can happen to someone you know, or it could be your teenage son or daughter, or it could even be you that falls victim to the virus that teenage drivers are. Speak up as a community and keep your children, friends, family and strangers alive. Help spread awareness about risk versus reward. Let the ones you love know that it isn’t okay to be distracted by your cell phone, or to drive senselessly because it’s “cool”. Make sure our teen drivers receive enough experience behind the deadly weapon that the automobile is. Lastly, help your community create tougher standards for driver’s education to make sure that drivers aren’t easily handed their driver’s license.
