Smoking is the inhalation of smoke from burning tobacco. The most common method of smoking today is through cigarettes however other smoking forms include cigars, pipes, bidis, hookahs, vaporizers and bongs. Smoking is commonly practiced for recreational drug use, spiritual enlightenment and or to induce trances. It was estimated that in 2011 more than 200,000 children from age 11 – 15 started smoking and 10 million adults smoke cigarettes in Great Britain – 22% adult men and 19% adult women.
Cigarettes approximately contain 600 ingredients which are all harmful to health. They contain acetone (nail polish remover), acetic acid (hair dye), ammonia (household cleaner), arsenic (rat poison), benzene (rubber cement), butane (lighter fluid), cadmium (battery acid), carbon monoxide (car exhaust fumes), etc. 50% of all chemicals in cigarettes are cancer forming and poisonous. Smoking is the biggest cause of death and illness in the US resulting in almost 100,000 deaths every year. It also increases your risk of developing fatal health problems. The health risks include; cancer, coronary ...
Cigarette is mainly made out of tobacco. Tobacco contains a massive amount of harmful substances such as carbon monoxide, acrolein, nicotine and much more. When people smoke, the chemicals enter their body. Also, the tobacco smoke releases so other people could receive chemicals if close the to the smoker. These harmful chemicals can cause many types of illnesses and diseases, and some of the diseases could often lead to death. Also, cigarette smoking is very addictive because the tobacco contains nicotine which makes the user addicted to smoking. Cigarette smoking is a currently worldwide problem and should be reduced everywhere because it is the number one killer in the world.
Through public education, most elementary school kids can understand that smoking is bad for them and that cigarettes are additive. Cigarettes are addictive due to nicotine, a drug found in tobacco (“Quitting Smoking”, 2015). According to Schneider (2016), some of the greatest health problems associated with smoking include: lung cancer, other cancers, coronary heart disease, other heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, other vascular disease, diabetes mellitus, pneumonia, influenza, tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), prenatal conditions, and sudden infant death syndrome. As stated by the Authority of the American Lung Association in an article titled “Health
Did you know that in 2011 there were more than 6 million tobacco caused deaths worldwide (Henningfield)? Smoking is the act of inhaling and exhaling the fumes of burning plant material. Because there is nicotine in cigarettes, they are highly addictive. Cigarettes are one of the worlds most devastating causes of death and disease (Henningfield). There are many negative effects from secondhand smoking, both immediately and over time. Smoking also affects the environment indoors negatively. Also, when pregnant woman or parents of young children smoke, they could harm their children. People should not smoke with others around because they are exposed to harmful chemicals and they are not the one putting themselves in danger.
“Smoking decreases a person's life expectancy by 10 - 12 years” (Newman). Smoking cigarette is a substance that burn and is tasted, inhale or both. Smoking is also as addictive and harmful as cocaine, heroin, alcohol, and many other injurious drug. Smoking cigarette is bad for health, however it can be stopped by higher taxes, smoke-free places, and laws that prohibit smoking when there are children around.
In America, the most common cause of avoidable disease, illness, and death is the abuse of tobacco(). Tobacco is a plant that carries a highly addictive substance known as nicotine that creates smokers to be unable to stop the habit. Numerous chemicals within tobacco like carbon monoxide, tar and formaldehyde are all believed to be harmful to the human body and cause superb health issues (abovetheinfluence). Smoking tobacco can have extreme negative effects on physical appearance, body organs and systems and the people that surround the smoker because of the dangerous chemicals it consists of.
Smoking is a major killer in this country. It contributes to the premature deaths of up to two million Americans each year, and chronic diseases in millions more. Tobacco is both toxic and addictive. The nicotine in tobacco is five to ten times more addictive than cocaine and a thousand times more powerful than alcohol in altering the mood and behavior. It is classified as a euphoriant drug, because of its ability to alleviate anxiety and boredom. The tar in cigarettes destroys the sacs in the lung where air exchange takes place, and causes a build up of mucus. ...
Smoking tobacco has caused several issues in society. Issues which consist of economics issues, and health issues. Smoking tobacco is unhealthy and hazardous. When tobacco is used in the manufacturing of cigarettes more than 7,000 chemicals and compounds are added; several which are considered toxins. Both humans and animals can be harmed from both direct use or indirect use of tobacco. Tobacco when processed is made with at least 69 cancer causing additives which can also lead to other diseases. Negative symptoms of smoking tobacco can include heart disease, asthma, blindness and various forms of cancer.
do you know what happens to the KIDS who breathe it they can get CANCER . It is such a pity for kids to get cancer and some people have cancer because of their genes because of their parents and their during their pregnancy. Think about all the kids and their stupid genes they got from their lovable parents . there are 4000 chemicals in 1 cigarette. These are the only the smallest fraction of diseases you can get:
Smoking is very bad for all of us, also though secondhand smoke is worse. More than 42.1 million people in the United States are cigarette smokers (cite source). This affects not only them, but the ones they love and the whole world. Why people smoke? Have you ever wondered why? Many young people smoke just for ¨fun¨ or to look mature. When teens see other people smoking especially their parents or relatives they smoke to act older or just to experiment. If their friends are smokers they smoke because they feel pressured into doing the same just to be accepted by the others, and they become addicts. Adult smokers smoke for other reasons. When they have a lot of stress they smoke. Pressures are a big reason too. People smoke to feel relaxed
Some of the chemicals found in cigarettes are Acetone, which is found in nail polish remover and Acetic Acid, an ingredient in hair dye. A common household cleaner called ammonia is found in tobacco cigarettes. Arsenic used in rat poison, is used in tobacco products also. Benzene which is found in rubber cement and Butane which is used in lighter fluid is found in cigarettes as well. An active component in battery acid called Cadmium and carbon monoxide are also chemicals found in cigarettes. Formaldehyde, hexamine and lead are chemicals present in cigarettes. A main ingredient in rocket fuel called methanol and tar which is a material for paving roads, are also a few of the deadly chemicals that tobacco cigarettes contain. (What's in a Cigarette? American Lung Association)
A cigarette holds 599 additives and over 4000 chemicals in it that can cause cancer and even death. It contains; Nicotine, Cadmium (Battery Acid), lighter fluid, sewer gas, candle wax, paint, toilet cleaner, nail polish remover, rocket fuel, and carbon monoxide Etc. (www.cdc.gov/chronicdisease/resources/ publications/aag/osh.htm). These are only 10 things in a cigarette out of 599. Just imagine what other kinds of toxins a cigarette has in it.
Everyone knows that smoking is bad, yet they still continue to do it. Consumers smoke for various reasons. Some smoke because they are stressed, unfulfilled, angry, and depressed. Smoking helps them to cope with their problems. The chemicals inside of smoking and its dependency are what make it bad. There are about 600 ingredients in a cigarette, and when it is ignited it creates more than 4,000 chemicals. There are about 70 chemicals that are poisonous. There is Acetone; which is used in nail polish, Ammonia, which is a household cleaner. A cigarette also holds Arsenic which is used in rat poison. The worst substance inside of cigarettes is Nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive substance and is what keeps most smokers coming back to smoke. Nicotine is present inside of the tobacco leaves inside of the cigarette and when ignited and inhaled, it comes into contact with the brain at around ten seconds. It is best that people not smoke; especially teens. People who start to smoke in their teens are more likely to become life-long smokers than those who have their first cigarette as adults. (Zickler, 2004)
Smoking is a habit that has taken place for a longer time than one could think or imagine; the probability that the habit will stop any time soon is also extremely low. Most tobacco users believe cigarette smoking is way of clearing their psychological problems and relaxing their bodies. On the other hand, nonsmokers maintain that the allegations by tobacco users regarding the benefits of smoking are unreal perceptions, which are just in their minds; nonsmokers argue that the habit poses serious health risks to both smokers and the people around them. In this regard, most countries have enacted strict laws to help reduce or completely do away with smoking, as several research studies have pointed out that smoking causes heart diseases, lung complications, and other health issues. To support the move to fight smoking as a result of the health risks it poses to smokers and non-smokers, people should agree to the nationwide indoor smoking ban.
Like I stated before, cigarettes are made up of more than 4,000 toxic chemicals that enter your body considered as poisons. Cigarettes mostly have a tobacco blend, paper, PVA glue to bond the outer layer of paper together, and producers often also a cellulose acetate–based filter in the cigarettes. They contain over 100 ingredients, and to mention just a few of them, one is called Cadmium which is used in batteries; That has to be healthy right? Cigarettes also contain Arsenic which is a lethal poison that is used to kill mammals, and Naphthalene which is a moth repellent. Led is the last ingredient I will tell you about because it can lead to many health problems like memory loss, and abdominal pain.
