Education is valued greatly in the contemporary world. We believe that the knowledge gained at universities and colleges is the key to finding a good job, being prosperous and succesful in life. Education is seen as a kind of legacy – it encompasses all the values, experiences, and achievements of our ancestors, and in order to ensure the survival of a culture it must be passed on to future generations. However, schooling should never have been made mandatory.

Compulsory education is largely focused on forging a unified society composing of weak personas, with low levels of individuality and self-reliance. We are led to believe that the government wants to provide equal chances for everyone regardless of their family or financial background, and thus everyone has to attend school. But the side effect of such approach (one that is probably more intended than not) allows the state to efficiently control the people placed under its jurisdiction.
