Like the basic Latin hold, the Salsa hold is compact, with partners standing slightly apart. The lady 's right hand and man 's left hand can be joined either in an upper-hand clasp, or with man underhand. The man 's right hand is either placed on the lady 's left shoulder blade or on her hip. The lady 's left arm is rested lightly on his right arm. It should be noted that the Salsa hold is considerably more relaxed than the basic Latin hold, allowing for more freedom of arm movement.

During my visit, I was able to observe different dances that were very interesting. Two dances that caught my attention were the “Toro Mambo” representing the state of Sinaloa and “Payasos of Tlaxcala” representing Tlaxcala. The “Toro Mambo” from the region of Sinaloa is one of the most popular dances in Mexico. The dance is really interesting for the reason that it represents a story in where a bull would dance on a place known as the “mambo.” In this folk dance the dancer do movements at the same paste while trying to imitate how the bull would dance. In this dance the women wear long colorful dresses to represent joy and in order to move the skirts higher. In contrast, the men wear light color shirts and jeans that matches with their partner. In the other side the dance of the “Payasos de Tlaxcala” represents a story of a festival in the region of Tlaxcala. To perform this dance men and women dress like clowns in colorful outfits to amuse the people in the festival. During the dance, the dancers try to satisfy the public by putting humor in the dance and doing crazy movements. This dances are both very great and enjoyable to watch. The Latin Americans never wanted to be left in this music development. The Latin Americans had their own music, Jazz (Gordon, 2005). They wanted to influence in the development of the music. Growing up, there was never a day that I did not wake up to the sound of loud salsa music blaring. Or to the loud voices of my mother or grandmother talking. To anyone else this “talking” would surely be mistaken for an argument or fight. Cuba is where salsa music and the conga drum originated, so we tend to be very proud of this. I believe that dance is a sport because it has the same components as any other sport. In any other sport you need to work hard with a lot of effort, and that is exactly what dancers do. Although most people in our world today look at dancing as nothing more than tutus and twirling, a good dancer must have a mind mentally engaged, a body able to endure physical challenges, and toned dedication and skill.
I find that people unconsciously categorize the dance into two parts: moves they think they can do, and moves they wished they could do.
You know how in baseball there are strict rules, same with dance. If you make one wrong move or make a mistake and the judges see it, you get points taken off of your score. That affects the whole team. All games have a goal, have rules, and have restrictions. The goal of dancing is to get better and of course to win a trophy. There are very strict guidelines that the judges have in order to give you the highest score that you can get. Almost every sport out there requires strength, encouragement, and agility. Having good agility can get you somewhere far. Any sports team that you play for or any sport that you play, it requires to be emotionally mature. The final type of dance that will be explored will be ballroom dancing. Ballroom dancing is a traditional type of dance usually performed with a partner. Types of ballroom dancing include the waltz, swing, salsa and latin dances however there are many other types of ballroom dancing.
