In today's society, our media is the source through which many people receive messages or information. Music provides messages of the artist's past life experiences such as hardships and points of success. TV conveys ideas of the latest trends and expectations for the “ideal life”. Movies portray the heroic role men should have at all times while making women always seem like the fragile powerless character. In other words, media is the filter through which living standards or guidelines are portrayed to people. However, these standards or guidelines are sometimes not as accurately portrayed as one would think and in some cases are even twisted. As a result, some of the content portrayed in the media can at times emotionally damage men and women. Analyzing what specifically causes this emotional damage can perhaps provide us with a better understanding on ways to properly filter media.
