In his article “Against School” John Taylor Gatto argues that, the current education system
is boring and that it is turning people into mindless slaves who are incapable of thinking for
themselves, can only blindly obey rules without ever questioning their “authorities” and can’t
even fathom entertaining themselves, he believes that children should be able to “manage
themselves and that the idea of compulsory education should be removed, And while he is right
that the education system is boring and that it is turning people into consumers, he is wrong in
believing that the education system itself is the main problem, The current education system is,
while majorly flawed, not, in fact, the main problem with society, the main problem is, from my
point of view, the people who are running it and their need to keep us content and easy to sway.
Nowadays, the current education system is, in my opinion, filling our heads with just
enough information to satisfy our desire to learn, while at the same time making us ignorant of
the things that really matter. the current world is like a circus act, keeping us content with
flashing lights, death defying feats, and magic tricks while at the same time never letting us see
what’s really behind the curtain. In the wizard of Oz, the wizard promised Dorothy and her
friends that all their dreams would come true if they performed several hard tasks, but he ended
up being nothing but smoke and mirrors at the end of the day. The education system is very

any means, all we need.
The system is turning us into people who mindlessly “go through the motions” without ever

expect everything to come to us easily, never thinking that we, might be the problem. We are a
community with the attention span of zero for a reason after all.
In conclusion, education in general isn’t the problem, it is the system upon which it is based
that is causing most problems in the world, the need to keep people manageable and content is
driving this world off a cliff and I honestly don’t know if we can fix it or if it’ll just get worse .
People need to understand that they can’t be comfortable all the time and that safety is nothing
but an illusion, placed specifically to keep us from reaching our full potential in every aspect of
our lives as human beings, as are money and time. Those in charge think preserving the human
race is more important than letting it thrive and that is what will cause mankind’s inevitable
downfall.

The Current American Education System Essay

- For many different reasons, the current American education system needs to be reformed. The curriculum between high schools is uneven and therefore unfair. Essay on Teaching Styles Of The Current Education System

- Strauss’s piece, “Is this any way to train teachers?”, challenges the teaching styles of the current education system by examining the RGSE teacher program. Strauss’s piece can be observed through the lens of a pragmatic progressive educator, as well as someone that adamantly opposes the essentialist view of teaching during the modern historical context....   [tags: Education, Teacher, School, Learning]

The Education Problem Of Education Essay

- The Education Problem Education is crucial to society, providing everyone with basic to complex information on just about everything we need to know in life; however, spending 18 to 20 to 22 years in education (or sometimes even more than that) prior to starting our official lives on our own is poor use of over a fourth of our lives, especially when students receive unnecessary education that could easily be condensed into more work over less years, or even just cut out.
