In this paper, I will be talking about the cupcake industry and economic sector. What its current and future growth rate is along with its trends, competitors and finances. In addition, I will touch base on the data that was found for this research paper. I will elaborate on the where, what, why and when to further show my reasoning for using the data.
Let’s face it, a good, creamy chocolate cake does a lot for a lot of people” said Audrey Hepburn and I agree. As we’ve settled more into the 21st century year after year , people come up with the coolest ideas on serving desserts. The biggest trend over the past few years is cupcakes. I once read that “desserts spelled backwards is stressed” and that’s exactly how I feel after a long week of chaos. What better to easy that then trying one of the new modern types of cupcakes or desserts. People are coming up with new and creative ways of satisfying that crave.
Cupcakes are a niche market within the baking and culinary industry. As of 2009 they have been on the rise and only continue to get more trendy and popular. According to the American Bakers Association, the bakery industry makes up about 633,020 direct jobs as of 2016. These are the jobs within the industry that do not include the suppliers or other industries that impact the baking industry. That is about 6,000 retail bakeries and around 2,800 commercial bakeries in the U.S, with at least 400 of them being cupcake bakeries. Combined they bring about 33 million annually with the commercial bakeries contributing around 90 percent while retail is about 10. Cupcakes within the industry can fall between 10 percent of the retail bakery products and 8 percent as soft cake product. The cake segment in the U.S. has been growing at 5.8 ...

Trade publications and magazine were collected by either experts advice on start ups, financing, marketing or managing a business, along with primary data collected by the trade association or industry. Majority of the data was collected from website with one or two briefly from databases with dates between 2009 and 2016. The data collected from the reports was very useful and can see how it could be a small expense for an entrepreneur to invest in when doing secondary research due to the fee. However, that service brings as a lot of data to the table.
In conclusion, I discussed the cupcake industry and its economic sectors. Along with what the current and future growth rate, trends, competitors and finances. In addition, I touched base on the data that was collected and its relevance to the subject with the where, what, why and when reasoning for the data chosen.
