Culture can simply be defined as ‘way of life’ of a group of people. It is about the way groups do things. There can be several ways of thinking about and studying culture. Gail McDonald studied the culture of America through four concepts that include “big, rich, new and free”. (McDonald)For this essay, I would like to define and analyze the American culture in terms of ‘freedom’. I selected this dimension because it has been one of the most distinct dimensions of American culture and it has contributed a lot in making what America is today. It will be interesting to analyze how this cultural dimension has contributed shaping the culture of the United States through the course of time.

For instance, the Bill of Right in the American constitution offers different rights or freedom to the people of America over which people can live and perform different dealings and behavior within a cultural context.
Bill of right involves the notion of freedom with respect of religion. According to this, every individual who lives in America has the flexibility to choose any follow any religion of the world. In reality, America is a country of people of different culture and religion; however, despite this fact, their culture seems to have same beliefs and standards as the country depict a harmony with respect to its cultural values and their implications.
Furthermore, in American culture freedom does not mean that one have the complete free hand to decide what is required for the growth of life, but they have freedom-like thoughts over which they act freely in a suitable manner for the betterment of life and to maintain the balance of the society as well. Culture depicts the way people act and do particular deeds within the cultural context under different conditions. For instance, they have the complete freedom to travel in the whole country, freedom to do work at any workplace where applicable, and freedom to marry with the same gender in most of the states, freedom to gain knowledge at every stage of life, freedom to gain justice and equal rights, and freedom to participate in any government and non-government departments and political groups as well. This shows that in American culture freedom is considered as the real-life notion over which people represent America as a unified and stable nation.
Of course, it would not be wrong to say that American culture shows the extreme level of love for the notion of freedom and for this fact American can be considered as the powerhouse of freedom. In American culture, women also have the complete freedom just like men and they have the equal rights and opportunities not only at domestic level but also at national. This is because of the fact that women in the past have faced a number of issues regarding their position in society their gender issue, and the issues of women sexuality as they also regarded as the part of the social mobility in American cultural
