Arthur Miller’s literary work, “The Crucible” focuses on historical and social influences that brought about the witch-hunt hysteria that affected Abigail, one of the main characters. Between the 15th and 18th centuries witch-hunts were a big deal. Cruelties were being performed. In The Crucible by Arthur Miller he explains in a fictional story what all these cruelties were. Innocent people were being accused. Abigail did most of the accusing in the story. The witch-hunts were a big impact in history.
Cruelties were being performed in Salem, Massachusetts. It all started during the spring of 1692 after a group of young girls said they have been possessed by the devil. Later on this group of girls accused several women of witchcraft. After this it was just a complete frenzy. Everyone was accusing everyone and it just continued and continued until these times have passed though. Everything was out of control. In Salem, they decided to make trials so everything would be in control. All these accusations turned into a complete panic. Innocents were being hung. Most witches were not burned at the stake, as everyone thinks. They were sent to trial then hung.
Anyone could be accused of being a “witch.” These witch-hunts did not even individually target women. Men were accused as well. Although women and men did not have the same name. The name for men witches is “wizard.” Even if someone just did not

They is no such thing as a witch and it had to take so many deaths and so much time for everyone to come the their senses and realize this was all a bunch of idiocy and nonsense.
