Imagine a world where everyone only took what they needed, and nothing more. That world may never be, as long as greed exists the world will never be satisfied. Through “The Crucible” and “Dr. Faustus” the authors are able to tell stories of greed taking over the lives of Abigail Williams and Faustus. Through the stories of these two, a similar connection can be drawn between their actions and the consequences. Their experiences prove that greed can get the best of people, and is always destructive.

These pieces of literature can be connected on the sin of greed. The more greedy that the characters got the more it tore their worlds apart. Although in “The Crucible” no one actually was proven to be in working with the devil, Dr. Faustus worked directly with him. Still, evil had a heavy hand in the actions of character in both stories, and managed to overtake take many souls through their greed. Dr. Faustus was a very intelligent man, as was Abigail Williams, but both failed to see how wrong their doings were. They used their knowledge to get what they wanted, even if it meant crossing moral boundaries. They were so caught up in their own satisfaction that they couldn 't see what effects their actions had on others.The destruction happened quickly, and they realized that their choices were not going to produce the results that they had hoped for. Although they both were given the chance to repent, neither of them did. Abigail denied all wrong in court and Faustus re-sealed his confirmation with the devil. All satisfaction was drained when they realized they lost themselves and greed had pushed away the goodness of their souls. They both paid the ultimate price in the end. Abigail 's actions had spiraled out of control and led to her love being hanged, and Faustus was condemned to a life in hell with no chance to ever
