This episode of The First 48 documents a case in Atlanta, Georgia where two innocent, young women were brutally murdered by Ardentric Johnson, a 36 year old drug addict whom was living in the abandoned house on Madrona Street where he committed these savage murders. Ardentric Johnson had previous convictions for carrying a concealed weapon, theft, false imprisonment, and battery. In Criminal Justice and English there are concepts like Rehabilitation,Evidence, Pathos, and Logos that help solve bloody murders, just like the brutal case we saw in The First 48: The House on Madrona Street. In the episode of The First 48: The House on Madrona Street, Ardentric Johnson was in and out of rehabilitation for his drug addiction to crack. He was released and shortly after his release, he was back to his old ways of his crack addiction, broke his sobriety, and murdered two innocent women as well. Ardentric is a prime example of the lack of results rehabilitation centers and correctional facilities have on their patients/inmates. This aspect of lack of results from rehabilitation centers and correctional facilities is provoked by the element of Logos. The use of pathos and logos in this case also aided the detectives in being able to find missing elements in order to group pieces of evidence together. Logos was initially utilized when the detectives examined the room and noted down their observations on the scene including the first body they found, the nature and living conditions of the scene, and the men’s clothing on the bed indicating that someone was staying in the house. Logos was also applied when the detectives traced the dead woman’s cellphone to a man who had purchased that same phone from Ardentric not too long ago, making his chances as a prime suspect even higher. But usage of pathos in this case made it certain that Ardentric was the person who committed these crimes unquestionably. Pathos assisted the detectives when Ardentric was talking to himself and confessedly stated that he shouldn’t of had sexual relations with the women, as DNA evidence would prove that he had committed rape. Furthermore, it is evident that English components were significant in apprehending Ardentric for his crimes. In criminal justice, detectives need many skills that help capture the suspect.
