For this artifact that addresses NJPTS #3, I had to create a management plan that outlines rules, routines, and procedures for my future classroom and highlight specific rewards and consequences for following and breaking the class rules, respectively. Additionally, I also had to design a layout for my future classroom, ensuring that it was both safe and comfortable for my students to have class in. Combined, both my proposed layout and management plan provide environments that promote learning while ensuring safety and respect for my students and myself. Due to the fact that I am willing to work with students by explicitly stating that I am not exempt from classroom rules, and by voluntarily implementing an assignment resubmission system that works in their favor, my classroom management plan corresponds with Standard 3, Essential Knowledge 3. This indicator states that, “The teacher knows how to collaborate with learners to establish and monitor elements of a safe and productive learning environment including norms, expectations, routines, and organizational structures” (Professional Development in New Jersey, 2014, pg 4), and is exemplified by my aforementioned examples.
Additionally, due to my proposed formation of student’s desks into a “U” shape to help promote more open class discussions and debates as well as student engagement, the classroom layout portion specifically complies with Standard 3, Performances 4, which states, “The teacher manages the learning environment to actively and equitably engage learners by organizing, allocating, and coordinating the resources of time, space, and learners’ attention” (Professional Development in New Jersey, 2014, pg 4). ...ns, I may have to alter certain aspects of my proposed management plan, such as the section regarding extra credit and the class grading scale. However, I hope not to stray far from my proposition, for it is an accurate representation of my ideals when it comes to managing a classroom. Additionally, I plan on attempting to recreate my classroom layout design when I receive a classroom of my own, space permitting. Nevertheless, much like the classroom management plan, I again understand that I will most likely have to alter my classroom design in order to fit the classroom I am given and/or to accommodate more students. Regardless of whether or not I will be able to implement both the classroom management plan and layout exactly as I had hoped, I do plan on utilizing both aspects of this artifact as the basis for how my future classroom will both look and function.

My Personal Classroom Management Stance Essay

- Personal Classroom Management Stance The theory I find myself agreeing with the most is the constructivist approach because it is a balance between teacher and student. As a future teacher, I feel it important to have some say in the running of my classroom but I also want the students to feel it is their classroom. The constructivist approach allows the teacher and students to work as a team, but under the direction of the teacher. A teacher provides the framework for how the classroom environment should be established, what content will be covered, and method for conflict resolution....   [tags: Education, Educational psychology, Intelligence]
