During the course of Advance Writing at ULL with Ms. Busby, I have accomplished a variety of goals I once thought were unattainable. I have learned different writing techniques, ways to format papers, proper tones to use, and how to find and properly use different sources. This course made me realize a lot about my strengths and weaknesses. It also helped me gain knowledge about the particular field that I am majoring in. I have not only grown as a writer and a student, but as a person as well. I feel that through my experience of this English course, I have gained the knowledge and confidence it takes to step out into the real world and begin my career in English.
Throughout the semester I was able to achieve a number of different types

That was something I always wanted to do because I fell as if when the topic is important to me it can be more helpful. I was able to meet this goal by writing paper two “What matters to professionals in your field?” In this paper I already had accomplished goal number one with knowing exactly who my audience was going to be and how to keep the correct tone in my writing. But the thing that was the most important was for me to use different types of sources to give evidence on why those things matter to people in my field. This paper required a lot of research, but a lot of good research that helped me see the things that concern the people in field and could possible concern me one day. It forced me to have to use a different form of research technique that I was not use to using. Something that allowed me to research two different topics with the search of keywords. The use of the database was the key to writing paper two. It was the eye opener to showing how I was not limited to the type of sources I could use in the writing of paper one. This research technique is very valuable because it is something that I can use in my other forms of …show more content…
It is true that everyone knows what their strengths and weaknesses are but to pinpoint them and to acknowledge and accept them is a whole different matter. During this semester I could say that my strengths are I kept an open mind to each new writing assignment even if it did not appeal to me personally at first. I tried to understand how each of the assignments could be beneficial to me. Sometimes the load of work and research that had to be put into each topic was a burden. But it was something that helped hold my attention to the topic once I started writing. My greatest strength which assisted me with my writing was the ability to look at the prompt and convey and entire essay off of
When I was first accepted into the AP Language & Composition course, I felt overwhelmed. I had always received above average grades in all subject areas, but because this was an AP course I was unsure if my English skills were up to par. During the summer, my anxiety about the course increased. I began to feel that my writing skills were inferior to the skills of my peers’. Before this course, I did not have a developed writing voice or style. I had little knowledge of what phrases or words to avoid using in writing. I started to wonder if I truly belonged in an AP course. After having completed this course, I have a better grasp of the English language and have acquired skills that have improved my writing.
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
To begin with, My areas of strength what I felt was so true was Key Content Knowledge section. Because that category indicates that's my area of strength. Student effort this semester is truly what I am leaning on to get by. Because honestly I never thought about going back to school until now. So constantly I challenge my effort because I am sort of a slacker when it comes to school. Academic Value is important to me so I will keep pushing to earn my degree. Secondly, My strengths will make me a better student by constantly pushing for good grades and knowledge throughout college. So far I can say applying these strengths got me on the right
Some of my weaknesses are procrastination and impatience, but I am taking proactive measures to resolve these issues. I have started putting reminders on my phone that helps me to remember when I need to start working. This will also help me keep my time spread out so that way if I get impatient with my computer or I can’t think of anything then I have time to take a break and think. Some of my strengths are my determination, my easy going nature and getting along with other people. (Even when no one else seems to get along with that person.) I also try to keep a positive attitude whenever times are getting stressful and it seems impossible to get what needs to be done accomplished.
Two strengths of mine throughout the first-quarter were being able to present information in front of a group of people, and coming up with good ideas for my essays. First I believe that one of my strengths are being able to go on the front of many people and fluently have information expressed. Evidence of this is when we did the multiple socratic seminars. I exceeded when doing
2.) The strengths from the Academic Information section that I have is reading out loud, analyzing novels, and writing/analyzing poetry. I have used these strengths to my advantage throughout the course especially when we read One flew over the Cuckoo’s nest and The Kite Runner as well as studying poetry at the beginning of the semester. The reason why I think I am strong in these areas is because I truly enjoy learning about these topics and it helps motivate me to pay attention in class and to read everything and take the big ideas into account. These strengths have helped me thrive in this class.
On the sheet, my weakness was writing and my strength was reading. I have been reading to take the most out of it and the apply it to my writing and expand.
Identifying my strengths has never came easy to me. I can quickly state my flaws, but speaking about what I can contribute has always been a challenge. Taking the strengths assessment was an eye opener because by results described me perfectly. Discovering my strengths will help me in my future practice as a student affairs professional and my current position as the Student Development Specialist of a college preparatory program for high school students.
One strength I saw myself, as having when I enter college is being able to understand and critical think about a essay/article that I have read. However, after taking English 101, I have now learned that this is a strength of mine as well as a weakness.
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
... strength in creating the lesson plans for each subject was utilizing lesson plans that I currently use in my Kindergarten classroom. My weaknesses in writing the lesson plans was analyzing the lesson plans and describing the teaching methods utilized, and identifying the type of assessment, either formative or summative, for each lesson. I feel these were weaknesses because these were areas of the lessons that I had to be a little more reflective over to determine the teaching methods being used, and how I was assessing the students during the lesson. However, I feel that this weakness is actually another strength that was developed after completing the assignment. As an educator, becoming more cognizant
Upon acceptance to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, I knew not the circumstances to come my way: I did not understand what adversities would appear to me unsuspectingly. Furthermore, I faced these adversities and I had confidence they would inspire growth. Adversity in college also presented itself in this English course by challenging my identity as a writer in the same way that UAB has challenged my identity as a person and a student. When enrolling to UAB, I knew how to write a thesis statement and how to use MLA, but this course helped me develop and hone my skills in an academic setting. This course taught me how to make two-prong thesis statements in a conflicting viewpoint paper and focused on using my rhetorical skills instead of writing on symbolism as I did for the majority of high school. Being a member of EH 101 has helped me develop as a writer, student, and person by challenging me to consider challenges from multiple
One strength I had was the organization of the essay. My sentences I wrote were not all over the place each paragraph talks about one topic. One weakness I had with writing this essay was my writing style. I noticed that in this essay my writing style was a bit choppy. I should have read my essay out loud to see if it had a good flow between my ideas.
To begin, I am going to write about my weaknesses and how they transitioned into strengths. First, I remember after each assignment in class was introduced I
During that time I was able to find areas that I would consider my strengths. One area I would say I have a great strength would be classroom management. My classroom was very talkative compared to other classes I have taught. Managing them was very difficult at first because I didn’t know what to expect or even how to hand the students. It was also difficult because I wasn’t sure who was supposed to be disciplining and taking control. Once the cooperating teacher and I had this figured out, it was easy for me to take charge and lay down what I expected. I noticed at this time, the students respected me more as a teacher and not just another student.
