The history of vampires has gone way back to around 586 years ago when they were created. The first real named vampire was the Romanian prince, Vlad Tepes, but he wasn’t known as the vampire who drinks blood. Tepes is known as “The Real Dracula” because of his taste for the blood of his enemies. The fictional Dracula was created 120 years ago in 1897 by the author Bram Stoker which caused many other movies, television shows and books to follow it including The Vampire Diaries. The Vampire Diaries was created by Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson and aired as a tv show in 2009. Count Dracula was created by Bram Stoker and was said to be inspired by his idol, Walt Whitman, because of the large nose, thick mustache, and white hair that hardly went to his temples. Some other physical features include his large hand with short fingers that have long and sharp fingernails, and hair in the palms of his hands, sharp teeth, and pointy ears. Count Dracula also had red eyes with bushy eyebrows, a pale skin tone, and his attire was completely black from his shirt to his shoes. As you can tell the 1897 Count Dracula was not meant to look handsome. TVD vampires have a completely different look to them. These vampires have beautiful, healthy hair and their skin color depends on who the vampire is. They also don’t age no matter how many years past so they look the same forever. Their nails and clothes are also different depending on the person/vampire. But they all have to wear rings so they are able to walk in the sunlight. Count Dracula has many supernatural abilities that are super strength, shape-shifting from a human to a bat, he can also control the weather and being able to make other vampires. Count Dracula was supposed to have one more supernatural ability that he can’t be painted, but Bram Stoker didn’t go through with it which lead on to him not being seen in mirrors or pictures in other films and books. As the vampires in The Vampire Diaries have many abilities such as super speed, compulsion to make humans do what they want, being able to bring someone back from almost dying with their blood as a healer and being able to control their transfer from human to vampire. Some other abilities/powers they have are telepathy where they can talk to each other through their minds and they can give anyone illusions so if they are in pain or dying they can let them see what they want them to see, like a memory. They also have the ability to hear a conversation from far away and if there is a lot of noise in the room they can pick out what they want to hear and they can also make other humans into
