Renewable energy protects the environment by proving cleaner energy
Pollution affects the water, air, and land which causes damage to different ecosystems. Overusing natural resources and energy consumption is the main cause of pollution. The most common type of pollution is the release of carbon monoxide by the consumption of fossil fuels, which contributes to damage in the environment and ecosystems through global warming. There are different ways to produce the energy necessary to continue with daily routines. Most of the non-renewable energy comes from nuclear energy and fossil fuels which create pollution. Renewable energy does not pollute as non-renewable energy does and is safer for the environment. Renewable energy provides cleaner

One of the main reasons is that renewable energy is not available for everyone due to the need of equipment such as solar panels or windmills. Another reason that nonrenewable energy is being used more is that renewable energy is not as reliable as non-renewable energy. Many people prefer to fill up their vehicle with gasoline rather than relying on electric power. The limitations in the accessibility of both different types of energy is overall the main reason why non-renewable energy is the number one source of energy. To produce solar energy, the weather needs to be sunny and unfortunately the weather changes and having a sunny day is not a guarantee. Something else that needs to be taken into consideration is the need for extra investments for energy storage and maintenance (Ramasesha, …show more content…
A consequence of contamination in the environment is global warming. Utilizing natural resources such as fossil fuel contributes to global warming (Nordell, 2003). With the increase in energy consumption for industrial power or transportation, the need of clean energy is needed. A recent World Energy Council study found that without any change in our current practice, the world energy demand in 2020 would be 50-80% higher than the 1990 levels” (Ramos J., & Bashiri N. 2013, p.8). There is even tax and credits available for people to encourage them to use friendly environment vehicles (Venables, 2009). Renewable energy is safer, practical, and creates a boost in the economy. According to Ramos J., & Bashiri N. (2013), renewable energy could “create new jobs for young people, reduce the GHG emissions of CO, CO2, SO2, NOx effluent gas emissions, frame the planet global warming, mitigate climate change and produce clean and safe energy distributed to all human beings” (p.26). Among the reasons of why renewable energy is not utilize as much as non-renewable energy is the reliability, although there is recent research that is trying to improve and provide the forecast for the energy level that could be acquire from the sun and wind such as hybrid methods (Ssekulima, Anwar, Hinai, & El Moursi,
As an epic tale of heroes and monsters, Beowulf gives its readers much excitement and adventure, but Beowulf's importance is more than just literary. It offers many insights into the beliefs and customs of seventh-century Anglo-Saxon culture. Among these insights is the Anglo-Saxon view of women and their role in society. Good Anglo-Saxon women are peaceful and unassertive, greeting guests and serving drinks to the warriors and other men in the meadhall. Wealhtheow, the queen of the Danes, represents a typical subservient Anglo-Saxon woman. As a foil to Wealhtheow, Grendel's mother is a strong and combative monster whom Beowulf must kill. By analyzing these two characters in Beowulf, we can understand the treatment and mistreatment of women in Anglo-Saxon society. The author of Beowulf generally supports the traditional Anglo-Saxon views of women by praising Wealhtheow, condemning Grendel's mother, and showing the need to suppress feminine forces like Wyrd; however, he does offer some criticism of these views by creating sympathy for Grendel's mother, allowing Wealhtheow to assert herself in the interest of her husband and children, and revealing masculine fear of feminine power.
Early in the poem, Beowulf hears accounts of Grendel’s destruction of Herot, Hrothgar’s majestic mead hall. Knowing his strength and military prowess, Beowulf immediately devises a plan, recruits men, and orders boats, thrusting himself into a battle that was not necessarily his to fight. Beowulf felt obligated to end Grendel’s reign of terror. Though he knew the death of Grendel would bring him fame and honor, the idealized Beowulf was able to set aside personal ambition in order to end the suffering of the Danes. Shortly after slaying Grendel, Beowulf again displays an awareness of duty when Grendel’s mother extracts revenge upon Herot, killing one of Hrothgar’s best men, Aeshere. Instead of leaving Herot in a state of frenzy, Beowulf comes to King Hrothgar’s side, pledging allegiance and service. Bolstering the defeated king’s moral, Beowulf boldly addresses the older King Hrothgar saying, “So arise, my lord, and let us immediately set forth on the trail of this troll-dam. I guarantee you: she will not get away, not to dens under ground nor upland groves nor the ocean floor. She’ll have nowhere to fall to. Endure your troubles to-day. Bear up and be the man I expect you to be.” Beowulf could not set aside his duty and obligation, though he knew full well the suffering and pain that might result from his actions. Thus, Beowulf is a portrait of
Why don’t we use more renewable energy sources? What role do they currently play? According to Energy Kids, in 2008 renewable resources only produced seven percent of the energy that we used. One reason we don’t use a lot of renewable energy
Promp: what does beowulf have to say about women? Specifically, what is a women’s proper role in Beowulf? Consider actual Anglo- Saxon queens
The women characters in Beowulf show that during the time period in which this was written, the roles of women were clearly defined. While, the author's views on women may never be fully revealed, it is made apparent that he believes in male superiority, and disobedient females ought to be suppressed. Like Wealhtheow, females were to exert minimal power and influence, but should always keep the drinks coming.
Beowulf is a complex character that is cast as the ultimate hero and champion, whose greatest strength is also his greatest weakness. Though his obsession with power yield him courage and strength that allow him to defeat enemies most other warriors cannot bring themselves to fight, his unilateral quest for glory leaves his citizens and kingdom desolate and unprepared for the difficulties they face. Beowulf may be the greatest warrior of one of the greatest epics written, but as is said in the last words about him in the book, his most notable trait is not his greatness as a leader and king but that he is the “keenest to win fame”.
Starting in the year of 499 until 1446 The Anglo-Saxons make their way into what was formerly known at the time as Angle Land. The country of present day England was making its way to being a developed society. They received influence from the Celts, Romans, Normans, Scandinavians, and the Anglo-Saxons. The Anglo-Saxons brought different languages as well as the idea of war and violence. In that time a lot of the power was held in the church. It was a big influence within the government and was corrupt. Their goal was treasures and advances rather than the well being of the people. Of the people of that time women were seen as a lesser and unrespected group. These ideas were evident in the literature of that time period: Beowulf. The story
...y protect their tribe or community, women maintained peace and order in the absence of the men. In reading Beowulf, the portrayal of women could be as servants to the men. In reality, this was just the custom of the culture, and as seen throughout the piece women are addressed with respect and praise on many occasions. Women that received isolation and opposition were those that stood on their own without men to do the “dirty work” of violence. With regards to this, one can assume that women of this time period were seen to hold purity, delicacy, and compassion. In serving men and remaining home, men protected women from the inhumanity in war and loss of beauty in grace. This could all be seen rather than women having the mere role of insignificant slaves. In the Old English tale of Beowulf, the customary position of women in society is in respectfully serving men.
The society that is described in Beowulf, is to be one that is Male dominated. There are many aspects of the story that reflect Male domination in its society. The first is that all main characters that play a role in the story are males. Men are involved with all events, and actions that take place in the story. The females seem to play a passive role in the story, where they are probably staying in their homes or within the village. They are viewed as an item to men in Beowulf. Hrothgar’s wife, Wealhtheow is beautiful, respectable, and has a gentle character. Hrothgar being king, expects this from her because she is a representation of his status. In Beowulf, men of status all seem to have a female of desirable characteristics that they show
The obsession with patriarchal history manifests itself throughout Beowulf, which opens by tracing Hrothgar's male ancestry and constantly refers to characters as the sons of their fathers. An awareness of family lineage is one way in which the heroic code integrates itself into the warriors' most basic sense of identity. By placing such an emphasis on whom their fathers were and how their fathers acted, the men of Beowulf bind themselves to a cycle of necessity governed by the heroic code.
Energy can be put into two broad categories Renewable energy and none renewable energy. Renewable energy sources can be reused continually as they are abundantly found in nature. All of them are non-polluting but devices used to collect the energy may impact the environment adversely. They are free but producing storage equipment or converting them into another form of energy may be costly.
In the search for alternatives to fossil fuels, scientists and policy makers have focused on three options: nuclear power, energy from biomass; and a combination of wind, water, and solar power. Nuclear power, however, is much more costly and runs the risk of having it fall into the wrong hands where it could be turned into a weapon of mass destruction. The third option entails wind turbines, photovoltaic power plants and rooftop systems, concentrated solar thermal power plants,...
Pollutants are the key elements of pollution, which are generally waste materials of dissimilar forms. Pollution disturbs our ecosystem and the balance of the environment. With innovation and development in our lives pollution has reached its peaks giving rise to global warming and human illness. When raw materials, water, energy and other resources are utilized more efficiently, when fewer harmful substances are substituted for hazardous ones, and when lethal substances are eliminated from the production process. Water pollution is also a major problem in the world because almost 60% of it is fish.
Pollution is a massive problem that the earth faces. Pollution is the action or process of making land, water, air, etc…, dirty and not safe or suitable to use. Pollution of air, water, and soil are the most complex issues. Various types of gases and toxins that are released by industries
Using fossil fuels such as coal and oil is inefficient, dangerous, and otherwise a process that is known to eventually fail as a long lasting energy source. Yet, there is hope for the future of energy, this new hope has many shapes and forms, but requires a chance to be fully implemented in our everyday life. Such energy sources like solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, and hydro power are the key to our future. These energy sources are proven to be long lasting, safe, more reliable, and the next innovation. In short, all Americans should switch to renewable energy, resulting in a safer and more efficient world.
