One side of these debates is Creationism, the theory that God created man during the creation of the universe. The second side is Evolution, which is the theory projected by scientists to explain the origin of species. Since both theories can’t be proven either right or wrong, one must decide either religion or science.
Creationism is the literal meaning of the bible. This idea is supported mainly by religions. It is the idea that God created the universe in just six days (“Creationism”). The information to support creationism comes from the Bible. However, the Bible is not a science book, but some consider it to be scientifically correct. In the first book of the Genesis, information is stated about the creation of the universe and how the physical events occurred. While in the second book of Genesis, information is stated about the creation of humans and other details. “No experiment shows a species changing into another through production of new useful DNA, only through modifications of existing DNA,” (Lipman, Robert M.). Also, the idea of Creationism threatens the idea of church and state.
Evolution on the other hand is a theory that is strictly based on the scientific evidence and ideas that have been found in the universe. Such as fossils or the ‘evolution’ of DNA. “The process of evolution produces a pattern of relationships between species. As linages evolve and split and modifications are inherited, their evolutionary paths diverge,” (“The Family Tree”).

Deciding between science and religion, science or evolution is the only realistic way to choose. Evolution is backed by science and evidence has shown the changes in species over the centuries. Mechanisms such as natural selection, genetic drift, mutation, and gene flow are some of the “tools” that can be used to prove the ‘evolution’ of species (“Evolution,” power point).
As stated above natural selection is the gradual process by which biological traits are “selected” by environmental factors. Genetic drift is the “statistical drift over time of gene frequencies in a population due to random sampling effects in the formation of successive generations,” (“Genetic Drift”). A gene mutation is a “permanent change in the DNA sequence that makes up a gene,” (“What is a Gene Mutation and How do Mutations Occur?”). And lastly gene flow is the transmission of alleles or genes from one population to another.
All of these ‘tools’ have provided many examples to support evolution, such as the Peppered Moths. Initially, the vast majority of peppered moths had a light, mottles coloring which served as an excellent camouflage against predators. “Before the industrial revolution, a uniformly dark variant of the peppered moth made up 2% of the species. After the revolution, 95% of the peppered moths showed a dark coloration.” The best justification for this change in the species from light to dark coloring is the pollution (“8 examples of evolution in action-Listverse”). Also, another example is Darwin’s finches on the Galapagos or antibiotic resistance due to the bacterial evolution in response to selection through the use of antibiotics.
The only way to understand how we as humans and all the species around came to be is through evolution. Science has proven time and time again examples and evidence to support to us that we were not just created by a ‘creator.’
