Starting back with Word Processors, computers have been around for a long time. As the world wide web grew, so did the need for better computers. With today’s standards, one would need a good computer that has speed, various capabilities, and is protected from viruses. As the computer field continues to expand to keep track of improving technology, so do other job opportunities. Once the only jobs heard of were that of IT management, computer programmers, system managers, etc. Extending past those still popular and important careers are the web page developers and designers, layout specialists, graphic artists, 3D animators; and the list goes on. As a graphic artist/web designer/developer, a good computer is definitely needed to maintain a solid working environment. Ideally, the computer should have the most recent computer build including a dual core processor with the highest amount of memory available to handle designs as well as animation. Beginning artists/designers/developers can get away with 2046 MB memory, but as their repertoire grows, the need for more memory and more speed will be crucial. A good sound card is also very important, especially if the artist/designer/developer wants to add music to their sight. Rather hard to do that without having a sound card, especially if they want soft music and wind up with something at the very end of the spectrum. With the sound card comes the need for speakers. While most computers come with ok speakers, a subwoofer added to these ok speakers can make a world of difference in the sound. Here again, to hear what the artist/designer has embedded into a web page will allow the designer to tweak it to the right level, the right tone; to make it pleasing to listen... ... middle of paper ... ...ion is security. Some encryption isn’t strong enough to protect the user and their information. Unlike home/office computers which may be very well protected, a mobile device’s security is often an afterthought. No one wants their material to be stolen, so to protect whatever mobile device I might use, I will make sure at time of purchase there is protection from viruses as well as hackers. . The confidentiality of personal health information is an issue that affects every American. Secretary Donna E. Shalala, PhD from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services quoted, "Will our health records be used to heal or reveal us?" AHIMA, a professional...
Health information opponents has question the delivery and handling of patients electronic health records by health care organization and workers. The laws and regulations that set the framework protecting a user’s health information has become a major factor in how information is used and disclosed. The ability to share a patient document using Electronic Health Records (EHRs) is a critical component in the United States effort to show transparency and quality of healthcare records while protecting patient privacy. In 1996, under President Clinton administration, the US “Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)” established national standards for the safeguard of certain health information. As a result, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 or (HIPAA) was established. HIPAA security standards required healthcare providers to ensure confidentiality and integrity of individual health information. This also included insurance administration and insurance portability. According to Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), an organization must guarantee the integrity, confidentiality, and security of sensitive patient data (Heckle & Lutters, 2011).
The computing system and peripheral devices purchased by this user must be the latest technology in order for him to be successful in his current classes and the courses that he will require in the future. "Technology is like fish. The longer it stays on the shelf, the less desirable it becomes." (1) Since the dawn of computers, there has always been a want for a faster, better technology. These needs can be provided for quickly, but become obsolete even quicker. In 1981, the first "true portable computer", the Osborne 1 was introduced by the Osborne Computer Corporation. (2) This computer revolutionized the way that computers were used and introduced a brand new working opportunity.
The first thing to do is to research what kind of computer you want. If you
Sadly, many people refuse to face the onslaught of computer technology. A 1994 survey conducted by Dell Computers indicated the 55% of Americans are phobic or resistant to computers (Column). In addition, many important people, including CEOÕs of major companies, are rumored to be computer illiterate (Column). The former CEO of IBM even admitted to never using a computer (Column). Fortunately, PC’s are becoming more and more user friendly as the technology improves. Fewer errors, less maintenance and quicker functioning should encourage many reluctant people to finally step into the new era.
The computer evolution has been an amazing one. There have been astonishing achievements in the computer industry, which dates back almost 2000 years. The earliest existence of the computer dates back to the first century, but the electronic computer has only been around for over a half-century. Throughout the last 40 years computers have changed drastically. They have greatly impacted the American lifestyle. A computer can be found in nearly every business and one out of every two households (Hall, 156). Our Society relies critically on computers for almost all of their daily operations and processes. Only once in a lifetime will a new invention like the computer come about.
...ware and Software developers and Web designers are just some of the many new employment opportunities created with the help of IT. Probably new more jobs to come in more years.
I cannot forget how excited I was when I first bought my own computer. Like a mother who spends time sewing and knitting for her newborn baby, I spent hours and hours to sparkle my computer. I waited a long time to buy a brand new computer. I had to work more hours and saved money to buy a computer. I did not want to buy a cheap computer, but I wanted to buy a professional one. Was I professional on computer? No! I was not. I did not even know how to type, but I was sure that my expensive com puter could make me a computer expert. 17 inches monitor, color printer, two speakers and well-designed fancy keyboard made me just happy by looking at them on my desk.
In 1937 the electronic computer was born. Computers were in 1943 to break “the unbreakable” German Enigma codes. 1951 introduced the computer commercially. However, it wasn’t until around 1976 when the Apple II was introduced and it was immediately adopted by high schools, colleges, and homes. This was the first time that people from all over really had an opportunity to use a computer. Since that time micro processing chips have been made, the World Wide Web has been invented and in 1996 more than one out of every three people have a computer in their home, and two out of every three have one at the office.
Computer Programmers do many things for today's technology, this would be a great career choice.
