Computers are taking more and more jobs and this trend will accelerate as we approach technological singularity. This is the event “when computers will attain human-level intelligence” Natalie Wolchover states. The singularity is projected to arrive sometime around 2030 -2040, but it could occur sooner depending on how computer technology develops. Wolchover states:
Physicist, author and self-described "futurist" Ray Kurzweil has predicted that computers will come to par with humans within two decades. He told Time Magazine last year that engineers will successfully reverse-engineer the human brain by the mid-2020s, and by the end of that decade, computers will be capable of human-level intelligence.
Corporations are currently thinking about how to profit off of this idea. Companies and its owners already make a lot of money through loopholes in taxes. This is something we should not only tax all companies more, but make sure we are cutting off their tax loopholes. We can use the money made from the taxes for increasing funding for the quality of education so that everyone can have an equal opportunity for a near future in the road to singularity. Although not everyone can learn to adapt to the new computerized future, it is necessary and all institutions must aid in this process. Just like a person who moves to the United States must learn English to progress in a college. However, this is not only the single best solution. If Artificial intelligence makes better art than us, then they would make better computers and societies for all beings (even making theoretical committees for extraterrestrials), or they could choose to annihilate us for the purpose of their own gains (unless we can program them not do, but even if we do they can still have errors that make the program for respecting other being fail). However, would annihilating all biological life forms lead to a better ideal society or be better for artificial intelligent societies? Does throwing away all of humanity, biology humane or taking account their coexistence a difficult process that artificial intelligence cannot have the ability to do? If computers can be smarter than human beings, then they should be able to find a way to coexist with every being.

The computer intelligence that Jastrow mentioned was about imitated human brain and reasoning mechanism. However, according to Levy, computer intelligence nowadays is about developing AI’s own reasoning pattern and handling complicated task from data sets and algorithms, which is nothing like human. From Levy’s view on today’s version of AI technology, Jastrow’s prediction about AI evolution is not going to happen. As computer intelligence does not aim to recreate a human brain, the whole idea of computer substitutes human does not exist. Also, Levy said it is irrelevant to fear AI may control human, as people in today’s society cannot live without computer intelligence.
When talking about the future of technology, one can only imagine what it will be down the road. The future of technology evokes many questions about the preservation of human existence, human advancement and intelligence. Some writers even discuss their positions on the future of technology and human kind. Writers such as James J. Bell, who explains the theory of the ‘Singularity’. In summary, he states that the rate of technological advancement, compared to human intelligence, will one day reach the ‘singularity’ were it will surpass the human mind (pg. 52). We may never know if technology will ever have the power to surpass the human intellect or what the consequences will be if it does attain these capabilities. Will humans still maintain control over them, or will they control us? Theses eight articles illustrate the implicit and explicit control that technology holds over humans in the future.
Kurzweil’s view of this thought is positive because he believes artificial intelligence is the future as appose to Carr who thinks negatively because we are currently revolving our actions around technology too much. Carr believes technology effects every thing around us including our every day lives. He also states that we are on the way to having artificial intelligence. Kurzweil’s theory of artificial intelligence will be greatly exceeding stating that, “The rate of technological change will not be limited to human mental speeds. Machine intelligence will improve its own abilities in a feedback cycle that unaided human intelligence will not be able to follow”(Kurzweil 470). Therefore explaining that artificially intelligent machines will be able to solely improve themselves making it not possible for humans to follow, hence changing the way the world is. Also claiming that, “Nanobots will interact with biological neurons to vastly extend human experience by creating virtual reality from within the nervous system”(Kurzweil 471). Carr agrees more in a current point of view that the Internet is becoming artificially intelligent and discusses how the founders of Google “speak(s) frequently of their desire to turn their search engine into an artificial intelligence, a HAL-like machine that might be connected directly to our brains”(Carr 116). Which connects back to Kurzweil’s theory but just in a present point of view. Also Kurzweil believes that through Singularity, machines will be able to give help to a person in such a simple way. Although Carr’s article goes in agreement with what Kurzweil theory is Carr himself does not believe that the revolution of technology is a good thing, he simply agrees that we are heading to artificial intelligence. Margaret Boden’s “Artificial Intelligence: Cannibal or Missionary” is a credible primary source article rebutting common concerns of artificial intelligence. Boden uses strong logic to combat against the thought of artificial intelligence making humans less special and artificial intelligence causing people to be dehumanized. Boden concludes that dehumanization and people finding themselves less special from AI are false and that other concerns include people overlying on AI.

As our research into science and technology ever increases its seems inevitable that in the near future Artificial Intelligent machines will exist and become part of our everyday life such as we see with modern computers today.
The human aspiration to create intelligent machines has appeared in myth and literature for thousands of years, from stories of Pygmalion to the tales of the Jewish Golem. After thousands of years of fantasy, the appearance of the digital computer, with its native, human-like ability to process symbols, made it seem that the myth of man-made intelligence could become reality. However, when will we know when we have reached that critical point when a machine becomes a mind? What is it that distinguishes real intelligence from the mere processing of symbols and interpretation of stimuli? When is intelligence achieved? To answer these questions one needs a concrete definition of intelligence in order to formulate the criteria necessary to evaluate the intellectual capability of machines and men.
When most people think of artificial intelligence they might think of a scene from I, Robot or from 2001: A Space Odyssey. They might think of robots that highly resemble humans start a revolution against humanity and suddenly, because of man’s creation, man is no longer the pinnacle of earth’s hierarchy of creatures. For this reason, it might scare people when I say that we already utilize artificial intelligence in every day society. While it might not be robots fighting to win their freedom to live, or a defense system that decides humanity is the greatest threat to the world, artificial intelligence already plays a big role in how business is conducted today.
Whether or not A.I. does replace mankind one should not dismiss that this rapidly approaching technological singularity phenomena is reality. Great change has happened, is happening, and will continue to happen as long as the ability to learn exists, organic or artificial. So when humanity reaches its climax and does end, it is known that it is not the end of knowledge, it is a new direction towards knowledge.
With self-driving cars, facial-recognition software, mobile phones that listen to our very command and even robot-butlers, the future is now.
But, this is a common misconception. The use of artificial intelligence will lead to some blue collar jobs being taken but it will also lead to the creation of more jobs. Even if a job gets taken by a machine, “someone will still have to code and build the new tools, which will also likely lead to a new wave of innovations and jobs”(Kende, 2017). There are also jobs that some machines are not capable of doing. Most jobs require unique human characteristics such as empathy, creativity, judgment, or critical thinking. So, the jobs of this nature will never capitulate to widespread automation. For example, we all know that eventually cars will be able to drive themselves but most chauffeur and driver jobs will never be in jeopardy. This is because machines do not have the ability to react to unexpected changes on the road the same as humans can react. Lastly, us as humans have the ability to control how much we are impacted by artificial intelligence. Andrew Rens(2014), chief council at the Shuttleworth Foundation, said, "A fundamental insight of economics is that an entrepreneur will only supply goods or services if there is a demand, and those who demand the good can pay. Therefore any country that wants a competitive economy will ensure that most of its citizens are employed so that in turn they can pay for goods and services. If a country doesn't ensure employment driven demand it will become increasingly less competitive." In conclusion, the increasing amount of artificial intelligence being used will eventually lead to some blue collar jobs being lost. But, there will but nearly as many jobs created resulting from the increase in artificial intelligence as jobs destroyed. As stated from the studies above, the rise of automation will also cause a rise and shift in the workforce. The shift will cause lower wage jobs to be replaced by efficient machines, while creating mid to high wage jobs for the rest of the workforce. This will in turn require a higher education for jobs and encourage the society to increase the education system quality. As society advances in the future, more jobs will be available despite current scares and anxieties over a job loss trend in the labor market. In the end, these main problems of artificial intelligence result in the same problem. While artificial intelligence would prove to be technologically revolutionary by introducing new ideas such as quantum computers or robots, said new ideas could result in the downfall of the world itself. Being a human being with your own consciousness is better than living forever with no feelings or emotions. These are the reasons why the advancement of artificial intelligent should be halted or banned so no harm can be done even without the intentions.
To begin this discussion I will show you the effects on the work place and humans. As for humans in the work place, work will become easier. So this means less stress for humans because the computers will be doing all the work. This in turn means that humans will be doing less and less because the computers will be slowly taking over. As for a human going to work, this may only consist of telling a computer what to do all day. Or even from your own home, waking up and telling your computer what to do so you do not even have to go into work. Now for communication with computers, this may get so advanced that your computer may even ask you questions about the work it is doing and that you are getting paid to do. So this is where I see computers going as far as work and humans.
