In the words of character Forrest Gump, life is a box of chocolates. While you never know what you’re going to get, it doesn’t mean that you won’t like the taste of something new. The best way to prepare for the future in the face of the unknown is to approach it with a positive attitude and take any surprises in stride. Success is always achievable, whether it is on the beaches of Normandy or in a high school classroom.
During World War II, America and the Allies had to overcome tremendous odds before they achieved success. There was extensive preparation involved in planning for Operation Overlord, or D-Day, because if a few critical things were to go wrong, the Allies could lose World War II. Preparations for D-Day began with choosing a place to invade Europe. Hitler made the mistake of assuming that the Allies would invade Calais, the most obvious spot. The Allies encouraged this surmising by sending fake armies and supplies to that area. This ruse would provide German aerial searches with false information while giving the Allies time to prepare to invade at Normandy. On May 31, only a few days before the planned D-Day date of June 5, troops moved into place and commenced the largest movement of troops in both American and British history. On the day of D-Day, the Allies planned to drop dummies along with actual paratroopers east of the invasion zone to draw the German forces away from the real invasion site. Soldiers were to carry only the essentials so that they wouldn’t be weighed down. Bomber planes took to the sky, ready to annihilate enemy supplies. All of this preparation for just one day: one day that would change the course of history.
Despite all that was riding on June 5, 1944, Mother Earth didn’t feel obligated ...

... addressed the troops in preparation for the D-Day Invasion, I “will accept nothing less than full victory!”
In the end, success can always be attained if one has prepared by having the right mindset. There will be challenges and tremendous odds to overcome, but having confidence in one’s abilities gives an unparalleled advantage. So remember: in the chocolate box of life, don’t be scared to try something new.

Instead of thinking that I had to do an assignment, I trained myself to think that I wanted to do an assignment. In further illustration, I created a list of personal and academic goals that I aspire to accomplish within four years as I was getting settled in to campus life....   [tags: University, College, Education, Full-time]
