Last year, I moved to Redding, California to continued my education at Simpson University. For a while, I was church hopping between Stirring, Bethel, and Neighborhood Church. I wanted to explore different churches to see which one fits me and my belief. I finally settled down at the Neighborhood Church because it was similar to the church I attended back in Los Angeles, my hometown, and it reminded me of home. Neighborhood Church is a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance which is an evangelical demonization. Their primary focus in on evangelizing the world and I enjoy their teachings. Pastor Bill also spoke about the revelation of forgiveness and grace. This is the theological themes of Sacraments and Salvation. The last sermon I attended for this assignment was on November 13, 2016, which was about igniting our fearlessness. Pastor, Bill provided four characteristics of Jesus that inspired femaleness; 1) his speech 2) his bravery 3) his death and 4) his mission. He described Jesus as an Alpha male leader and the Lion of Judah. The point to the theological theme of Jesus, the Son of God, who came down to earth to save humanity from sin. Jesus Christ teaches the words of God, and he spoke the truth with love and people listened. Jesus illustrated his bravery when he revealed himself as the Messiah who leads to him being crucified. He overcame death and received the victory. Jesus also knows his purpose as the Son of God, and he did serve the Lord and his people with passion and joy. Pastor Bill shared this characteristic of Jesus so that we can follow his step. We should not be afraid of anything because “we can do all things through Christ” (Philippians 4:13). Pastor Bill invited the church to reach out to others without fear and do great things for the Lord. The four sermons I’ve attended are related to the theological concept I was learning from The Basic. The only critique I have of Neighborhood Church is that the focuses a lot of reaching out to non-believers. The church preaches a lot about our purpose which is to serve others for the Lord. I feel like they did not talk much about our personal faith. As for a new believe that is what I need. If my faith was not as strong, how can I help others? It might have to do with the current theme they are teaching right now, but I hope that eventually, they would preach more about faith and
Although the history of Haslett Community Church may not be as long and storied as other churches, it is nevertheless a rich history. The roots of our community church began to grow on March 23, 1954 when several persons met at the home of Conrad and Rose Haney to discuss the need for a new church in Haslett. An open meeting was held at the Township Hall on March 31, 1954 to plan for a church. At that meeting, forty-nine people elected a steering committee and planned for services. One month and two days later on April 25, 1954, and one week after Easter, one hundred forty five people attended the first worship service and Sunday school above the old Township Hall and fire station on the northeast corner of Haslett and Okemos Roads. For the first year or so, guest ministers provided most of the sermons. Occasionally there would be a fire call and the siren would blow, interrupting the service. This always delighted the young children.

I have attended a Christian church my whole life. While I have attended various denominations, I have always considered myself to be non-denominational, not favoring one over the other. The only other churches I have ever attended were Catholic; I have had other family members practice this faith and so have always been a guest with them if I have gone and had the services feel fairly familiar. When we were given the project to go and attend a different religion’s church I wasn’t sure what to expect. I decided to attend a Jewish church since Judaism and Christianity believe some of the same fundamentals but are still separated, I thought it would be a good way to learn more about the church as well as be able to relate better to anyone I know who practices Judaism. Also this taught me what it feels like for someone who does not have any experience in church.
In my paper I will talk about my visit to The Community Church at Murphy's Landing (CCML). I have chosen this particular Church because it is a family church type and my neighbor goes there and she encouraged me to go with her. I went there with my neighbor on April 6, 2014.This church is an appropriate for this assignment because the people there are welcoming me with an open heart and they are willing to help and provide me with information. When I visit the Church’s site I read these words “We know visiting a new church can be intimidating. But, we want to help you to be as comfortable as possible when and if you join us”. The people gather in the church weekly to glorify God in joyful worship. The expressions of worship on CCML take many forms a prayer, a hymn of reverent awe, a guitar ringing with a chorus of praise, or a warm handshake and a welcoming smile. Their weekly services begin at 9:30 each Sunday at church. Also, they have weekly podcast if anyone wants to listen online. They have many types of services for parents, kids and students. People at CCML were so friendly; they gather around me and start welcoming me, one by one. People there introducing themselves to me, one after another and provide me with their contact information and help. Then we start talking about the church services and Christianity in particular. The mission of CCML was knowing, growing and loving. They seek to live out our mission by worshipping together as a local community of believers, growing in spiritual maturity through discipleship, education, and small groups, caring for one another within the context of the larger church body and small groups, and Communicating the love of Christ to our world, both through local outreach and global mis...
I even had one of the Deacon come to me after my outreach work had cause a family too become a part of the church, he ask me if they were a asset or a liability to the church. In 2013, my prayer would be answer, from the night that I was told that mission work was not need, I had been in pray. My home church is United Methodist. I have gone there ever since I was a child because that is where my mother went to church. Through researching this paper I found many interesting things about my church. There are many points and issues I agree with and many I disagree with. Writing this really made me think about my denomination closely and if it’s the right one for me.
On Sunday March 12th and 19th, my husband and I attended Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (HTSN) in Finneytown, Ohio. The church conducts Orthros (Matins) at 8:15 am and Divine Liturgy from 9:30-11:30 am. I chose to attend HTSN for two reasons; first, they host the annual Panegyri Festival and two, learning about the 1054 split intrigued me given the current state of the Methodist Church.
The people there were all extremely nice and would try to help me understand. They understood and accepted the fact that I wasn’t religious, but was showing interest in their faith. There were not as much people there as I had expected, but that might have been because it was a smaller church. It also wasn’t as racially diverse as I had expected. Jesus served as example for all of humanity. His life work was to solve the fundamental problem of humanities sin and to provide eternal life with the Father. Jesus Christ demonstrated the way humans should live. He modeled behavior to the poor, the sick, the imprisoned, women, tax collector, to His friends. He came to set the example of the way to live for Christians. Basically, Jesus life was an outline of how to live your own life. Jesus confirmed that you should love your neighbor as yourself. That you should love your God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your strength. This was demonstrated on a daily bases. Jesus verified that although humans are prone to sin, one can make a choice to not sin. When tempted by Satan, Jesus refrained from sin and turned to God the Father for strength to turn away from the temptation. Jesus was the teacher of complete, true knowledge.
All welcoming, all loving, all knowing God, for me my Church is like a an close up of heaven will look . All colors, all ages, all backgrounds invited, souls are saved weekly. Faith is increased every Sunday and the Bible is even reflected on heavier Wednesday. Word Church is more then just a big grey, white, and red building, on the corner of Britain Road, with a big W symbol on the side. My church is a hospital, in the middle of a slowly dieng area. Previously dispositioned as an old furniture store, I am currently a member of, the newly remodeled Word church Akron. This was not my first church I attended, however it is the building block of my faith in Christianity . During the foundation of my childhood, I had my first experience with religion, at catholic and Pentecostal churches
