Inefficient communication within the boundaries of the organisation can result in several departmental conflicts which affect the business entity as a whole. Internal communication plays a vital role for almost every business entity and there are several piece of evidence to support the statement. Organizations with efficient communication are flourishing and achieving their intended goals in a timely manner, while various other organisations fall short of optimum utilisation of their resource. Many other organisations are failing to succeed due to lack of information flow and improper communication channel (Hanna, 2005). Due to ineffective connection between employees within the structure of the business, it can result in conflicts between the departments and affects the organisation as a whole. Studies have shown that inter departmental communication is one of the key issues which an organisation faces in a day today activity. This essay reflects the importance of knowledge sharing and learning within inter departments and how the same can be overcome by considering the possible measures and implementing them within an organisation.
From a management perspective during the business operations, the entity grows and as they grow the co-ordination and dependency on another department also increases vastly. Due to this the objectives and long term goals of the organisation are distributed over many departments. Each unit has specific skillset and capacity which is aligned with the firm’s strategy and to meet the same knowledge sharing is very vital process. As Ben (2003) compliment the idea of implementing job rotation because it can be very useful to train an individual understanding other department needs. This will allow employees to understand the work-flow within the organisation and understand how different team work and the interdependency on each other building a better team as whole. As job rotation enables identifying the character, ethical principles of an employee which enables a good team building where the employees exchange information between them considering their role is more pivotal and important and they should not handle the information with themselves. Further it results interaction among individuals from different departments and allows quick response and a mutual agreement in the form of formal or informal communication.
