Communication is a crucial and an essential skill that individuals strive to obtain. Without communication individuals would struggle to try and understand one another, sending or relaying messages would translate as unclear, and as a result they would not know what is happening around them. However, everyone has been in a situation where they felt uncomfortable with the quality of their communication with others. Or they might of not been satisfied with the way the individual carries out a conversation with them. Moreover, everyone is not perfect and countless individuals whether young or old also struggle with communication. I had a few friends including my roommate and I was okay with that. I struggled with finding my identity and self-concept, I valued other people’s opinions over my own. I allowed others to think and make decision for me and not myself, this mentality made me a follower and not a leader. I was also much of an observer rather than a talker which caused me to have fundamental attribution errors of situations. I continued to keep everything to myself until the situation got worse or got to me. When situations really got to me I would lash out which made me very unpredictable. However, I kept myself at a distance in making new relationships with others. At this point of my life I was becoming more aware of my action towards others. I did not want to hurt people all my life because I did not know how to properly express my feelings to others. As a result, of that I would self-monitor myself through the words, tone, and facial expressions I used. I became very frustrated with myself because I began to realize cognitive complexity of different situations and people. Furthermore, I began to feel empathy and understand different sides to people
