Communication plays a vital role in the planning, strategic and organizing of health care organizations mainly through its ability to facilitate coordination between individuals and departments. In today’s health care environment where health care management and delivery has become convoluted and fragmented, health care organizations are required to be well coordinated in order to provide quality services. Thus as a means to an end, health care managers must learn to utilize effective communication in order to fully coordinate its various services and departments.

The healthcare industry is a very complex entity that exists (most especially) in the American market. In fact, advancement and developments in the field of healthcare within the past few decades has turned its provision into a multi-layered, multi-dimensional and multi-sectoral industry. The emergence of private insurance providers, the rise of managed care, the passing of related legislations and the continued advancements in information technology has convoluted its management and delivery. For the seeker, healthcare is no longer a simple visit to the doctor’s office nor is it as simple for providers to just see a visiting patient and issue prescriptions. Rather, it has become a complex system that involves bureaucracy, fiscal liability and legal considerations.
