12 Angry Men When placed in a group with different personalities, you have to find a way to work and communicate effectively as a team; of course you’ll find yourself stuck at times because of certain barriers such as the lack of communication between members. However, group members have to find the ability to work together as a team. In the film “12 Angry Men,” we see a group of jurors who have to decide whether the defendant has committed the crime or is presumed innocent throughout a capital murder trial. As the audience, we witness how challenging it was for the jury to deliberate on a verdict and come to a true consensus because of the different personality role, and negotiation strategies. Specifically, I found six jurors who I felt played major roles in the trial that established informal roles. Some characters played more than one specific role in the film, which include the following informal roles, Initiator-contributor, Information-seeker, Opinion-seeker, Information-giver, Clarifier-Elaborator, Coordinator, Facilitator, Stage-hog, Blocker, Fighter controller, and Cynic. Question 1: In the film we see eleven of the jurors convinced that the boy is guilty of murder, except for juror member number eight. The architect had three important informal roles throughout the film, Initiator-contributor, Information seeker, and Information-giver. The role of Initiator-contributor is displayed because he does not believe the boy is guilty or innocent of the murder. However, he wants to consider both possibilities to decide if he is guilty. Therefore, juror number eight wanted the rest of the jury to convince him that they boy was guilty of murder. In one part of the film, juror eight tried to make the rest of the jury... ... middle of paper ... ...lm he brings up a point about the knife and switches his vote to not guilty. Nonetheless, by him keeping quiet he was just showing fear of going against the majority of the group to avoid conflict from arising. As for Juror one he uses tit for tat bargaining method. He was cooperating with both sides, but at one point came argumentative with juror three because. He was being cooperative with those who he felt were being cooperative with him. Throughout the film, juror 8 uses various styles of leaderships at the beginning he uses There are many different ways of a group can communicate especially depending on the situation, place and matter. A group can become serious in a matter of mins and it can cause tension as demonstrated in “12 Angry Men”. As exhibited in the movie arguments and bonds can unwittingly affect the entire group process to reach an agreement
