Communication Experiences and Habits Communication is something that we are fortunate to practice everyday. Since literacy has advanced so much in the twenty-first century, there are multiple ways in which communication can be expressed. We are constantly being introduced to new literacy experiences, allowing us to experiment with the written, oral, visual, and electronic modes of communication. It is important to learn about and practice each of these modes in order to grow as a better communicator. The first time I remember putting the modes of communication, or WOVE, to work was in 7th grade. Since then, my communication abilities continue to improve as I am presented to new literary experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. …show more content…
Everyone in the class was separated into groups and was asked to make a power point presentation about an animal. We chose to do our project on seahorses. I remember being a little nervous about this assignment because I was not the most confident writer, I was not very experienced with power point, and I had never given a presentation before. However, once we started our project, I realized that everyone else in my group was just as nervous and inexperienced as I was. This assignment was when I was first introduced to WOVE. Although, our project was not perfect, it was a step in the right direction for bettering our communication skills. This assignment taught me how the aspects of WOVE (written, oral, visual, and electronic) work together and why each one is so important. Overall, everything I learned from this first project, I am still learning to improve today, like how to compose a successful paper and how to give a successful presentation. Because communication is something we constantly experience, there will always be room for
Communication is an essential component for effective leadership and management. Without it, the organization will struggle carry out their mission. Simply communicating is not enough. Effective communication hinges on the clarity of the message. As Popovic and Hocenski (2009) stated, a “Leader must be able to communicate clearly to others in a language that they can understand on all levels in an organization, from the most unskilled worker through to the Chief Executive” (pp. 15-16). There are a lot of elements that can affect one’s ability to accomplish that. A small, but distinctly important, few are discussed in the following paragraphs.

The Importance of Communication & nbsp; I believe that one of my strengths lies in the way I communicate and deal with children. I think that we must become active listeners in order to understand each other. During my internship with the Institute for Social Justice, I worked with inmates on research for alternative social models of punishment. In order to do the job effectively, I needed to empathize with the inmates so that I could understand their concerns and needs and remedy any self-destructive conduct they exhibit. The work also involved an all out hunt on my part to place these inmates into environments and programs that would prove healthy for them. & nbsp ; I maintained a working relationship with my friends at the Institute and checked their progress weekly. I believe that the power to empathize, or the ability to put yourself in someone else's place begins with an open mind. When I say that we must become active listeners in order to understand one another, I mean to say that there are subtle movements in our speech, certain words that we use, certain utterances that are not directed towards us, certain circumstances unrevealed to us. We must endeavor to in my studies in your department. & nbsp;

The presence, or absence, of skills that relate to communication with oneself (intrapersonal communication) are critical influencers of many other aspects of oneself (Beebe, 2015). In particular, one’s intrapersonal communication impresses on one’s intrapersonal communication: mutual communication between yourself and at least one other (Beebe, 2015). Electronic devices shook the developed world with the development, expansion, and recent advancement of such devices. The use of electronic devices strengthens the most important aspects of our experiences and relationships. This idea is best supported by many uses of electronic devices, predominantly communication. The reason communication, the fundamental feature of electronic devices, is so beneficial to our most important aspects of our experiences and relationships is that communication is a central aspect to those same experiences and relationships. Irrespective of the environment in which one works, communication is always vital and a key factor of success. Communication happens both physically and verbally and is absolutely essential if you want to inform someone about something. ‘Loud shouting and even violence are symptoms of the ailment, not remedies.’ (Adair 2009: 3). Communication has two main components; sending out a message to someone, and ensuring the message is received correctly to the other member of the conversation. It is thus fair to say speaking and listening are vital to effective communication. This essay will initially introduce me as a student, and my career. I will give a simple SWOT analysis of me and will then go on and breakdown the different methods and techniques of effective communication.
