Recommended: What are the economic impacts of colonialism

From history, it can be known that China is a country which has been colonized by several nations such as Britain and Germany. Though there was a time with weakness and invasion of other countries, China recently became one of the countries that have the speediest development in the world. To achieve this is not an easy thing but how could China accomplish it? Except a great deal of effort made by Chinese people, this unbelievable rate of improvement in China may also have an indispensable relation with the colonization of some other countries. Consequently, I believe that the colonization of some foreign countries in China has a profound impact on the current development of China especially in economics, business and knowledge.

Colonization in China had a major role to play in the rocketing development of China’s economy. Take Qingdao, a city of China, for example. In 1898, Germany began colonization in Shandong, the province where Qingdao is located. This colonization lasted about 16 years until 1914 when Japan got the sovereign rights of Shandong by force (Richards 2006). During those years, Qingdao changed significantly. One of the famous brands, Qingdao beer, also known as Tsingtao beer was affected tremendously by Germany. Germany’s beers, especially Munchen beers, are well-known over the world. Tsingtao beers could develop fast and become famous in China even in the world because of the impact and improvement of Germany during that time. Therefore, this brand brings a large number of benefits to the economic development in Qingdao as well as China. The second theory I will discuss is the climate change theory, which claims that Homo sapiens lived while Neanderthals died because they were better adapted to the climate. The last theory I will discuss is the possible “extinction through absorption” theory which claims the Neanderthal interbred with the Homo sapiens and became one species. In this paper I will also be comparing the technologies, and diets of both species. In addition, I will look at the anatomic relation between the Neanderthals and Homo sapiens, how their body shape and size differed, and if this gave any advantage to one side or the other. My thesis for this paper will state that Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis had co-existed but the disappearance of the Neanderthal in Eurasia is due to the appearance of the more culturally advanced and genetically superior Homo sapiens and the failure of the Neanderthal to adapt in an evolving climate.
