The debate between whether college or professional football outranks the other is a recurring event, and the debate does not end at if Saturday or Sunday is the best day to watch football. Websites such as ESPN and Sports Illustrated touch base with the topic every summer, analyzing all aspects of the games. The debate includes the amount and variety of teams and players, traditions, the half-time shows, and how the football is used in the game through the play options and penalties, player benefits,. Although for there to be a collegiate or professional football game, there must be people to watch it.
The audience and fans can make or break a team in the National Football League, also known as the NFL, or in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, also known as NCAA. On average, the number of ticket sales a NFL team produces depends on how many games the team won that season. For example, in the 2012 season the Jacksonville Jaguars won two out of the sixteen regular season games, and by the middle of the season ticket prices and sales plummeted. On the other hand, collegiate football audiences do not follow this rule. The stadiums of the division one through three football teams are always filled with supportive college students, alumni, and family. At the University of Michigan, the stadium can hold roughly 110,000 people compared to the largest NFL stadium that holds 90,000 people (Top Ten Largest NFL Stadiums). However the audience creates a huge decibel number and this creates problems when 110,000 fans are screaming for their team in a dome.
