College prepares people for life
Today in American society, one feels pressured and obligated to seek higher levels of education. In the article “College prepare people for life” written by Freeman Hrabowski, he expresses his views on the many aspects in which college prepares one for their life; especially, financially. Having a college degree increases ones ability to get a job in comparison to somebody who has solely a high school diploma. However, many are faced with the irony of having to go into to debt, in order to work towards financial independence and security. In terms of socio economics, those who are stuck by poverty often cannot afford going into debt to exit their current ranking in the qazi caste system of poverty. Many argues that college prepares people for life, however one can disagree due to the fact that going to college would put you in a lot of debts. You don’t need a college degree to have a good paying job. Not attending college affects ones literacy of financial awareness, their ability to receive a job, and their ability to carry our responsibilities.
First, attending college effects financial awareness. College needs to reduce the cost of their tuition to help students that are struggling financially. The benefit of lowering college tuition fees including the fact that higher education is often a standard job requirement in many fields, but also that lower tuition costs increases the accessibility of education, which in turn creates social mobility that is often beneficial to the economy. They rather gain money instead of having their future society be able to graduate without being in debt or dropping out. People are in too much debt, and a lot of students are failing and dropping our more than passing college. The best idea it seems like is to get a scholarship or go to a community college where it is cheaper. College is becoming a place where students are going into debt. This has been going on for a long time and it needs to stop. colleges need to lower tuition, increase the power that degrees have on jobs, and bring back courses to the colleges. Fixing our educational system will help out society as a whole.
