It’s no secret that college is expensive, student’s spend thousands of dollars on college tuition and textbooks to attain their desired degree. Throughout our college career we as students dig ourselves into debts and student loans, once we graduate we are left with a burden to bare. With how much it cost to further our education, is college really worth it?
College is not worth the financial burden, it isn’t worth the average 23,000 dollar debt. Many of us choose to go through with college regardless of price because a rich fulfilling education is the best thing an individual could ever receive, but only one in three individuals believe their college education is worth the money. In Michelle Adam’s “Is College worth it?” she gathered a lot of evidence from a survey by the Pew Research Center ran on college graduates and students aged 18 an older. One valuable piece of evidence from this article was that only 57% of American college alumni believed that the higher education system in the United States provided students with a good value for their money. Paul Taylor, lead author and director of Pew social and demographic trend project known as College worth It? Noted that “the cost of tuition and fee’s nearly tripled since the 80’s” and in relation student loans and debts are at an “all-time high.”
This led Taylor to conduct two more national surveys one online and one over the phone, the results aren’t alarming. 75% of these American students felt that college was too expensive for the average American. More than half of the college alumni’s reported that their student loans make it harder to make ends meet, 24% saying student loans have made buying a home harder and 7% saying it has delayed their choice of starting a family...

... other great values it’s pretty hard to say that college isn’t completely worth it. Though, we shouldn’t enter adulthood anticipating stupendous debt.
Like many, I value my education and I will pay whatever price to receive the fullest education I need to be successful. A college education is important to me and is something I was raised knowing I would need. I want to obtain a college degree and be successful in my field of study but I don’t want to carry around a financial debt my whole life. College is what you make of it, you can choose to not go because it’s too expensive or you can broaden your learning horizon’s and hope you land a good paying job to help with the loans. I believe many of my college colleagues would agree, college is not worth the financial burden but because it’s the only way to land a good paying job or work in our dream field it is a must.
