Some people would agree a college education is worth pursuing; it expands one’s mind through the power of education and allows oneself to find their unique place in a world of conformity. Also with a college degree, a person will make more money than someone with just a high school diploma. “On average, a college graduate with a bachelor’s degree earned $30,000 more per year than a high school graduate, or about $500,000 more over a lifetime, as of Apr. 2013. It is kind of somewhat expected now, compared to decades before when college wasn’t necessary for almost all jobs. After a student graduates from high school, they pack their belongings from their parent’s house and move into their dorm where they will spend another four years of their life in, studying for many long hours, coming to class sleep deprived, just to make an “A” on their test. So basically, a student is graduating from four years of their life just to complete another four years. Many young people even feel obligated and are even pressured to attend college. Some families might have a tradition where going to a specific university is essential practice of their family values, where Alma Mater pride is strong and enforced among the members of the family. Some students are so stressed that some fail college, quit, or in worst cases, commit suicide. This is extremely unfortunate that this happens to some because they’re too busy worrying about how they are going to pay for college. This isn’t a healthy lifestyle for people to experience. Some may feel inadequate if they do not attend college or are not the “smartest” in their class. Some may feel like if they don’t go to college, they won’t be accepted by other people and fear of being condemned by loved ones. Also, if they are in college, some may feel like they have to be the best to recognized and commended by their peers and professors. However, applying for college, enrolling in classes, moving into a dorm, and paying for tuition is all costly. If a person comes from a low income background, it makes their probability of going to college low.
