In the old schooling system about the time of World War I and II and afterwards, college education was provided to get people prepared for the work force, and they were only taught the skills necessary for their line of work. Students were not required to have any miscellaneous knowledge including classes like critical thinking or art classes, but they were rather meant to get in and out of school as quickly as possible. Schools were a sort of student factory since workers were needed to replace the civilians involved in the wars. However, the purpose of college education has drastically changed over the years. These problems can be in real life scenario where we make decisions or problems can be work related. According to Oxford Online Dictionaries critical thinking can be defined as “The objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgment”. This means a person cannot solve a problem or take a decision without thinking about the pros and cons of the decisions that he is going to make based on his/her critical thinking. Back in the days, people were more bound to getting ready for work force in the schools, and they were not taught enough to take their own decisions. It is more like decision making ability. Just like Kohn says that being a good test-taker does not necessarily to be derived from a person’s intelligence (3). The ability to memorize things may be a great tool for people who just want a grade or want to pass a course and forget everything later, but it has its drawbacks in real life situations and doesn’t create a critical thinker. Critical thinking is more application based rather than just taking a test. Successful practical use of critical thinking makes a person critical thinker along with reading and learning about various different subjects makes our memory sharper. Throughout recent years, universities have become more and more competitive with students becoming more and more open-minded and self-aware of their capabilities based on their critical thinking. Students analyze and understand a problem and have different way of approaching the solution. A good example of critical thinkers can be scientists and researchers who use their ability to think critically developed in school and use it at their work to accomplish the task assigned along with discovering something new for humanity which is more efficient and
