If you were to ask me if In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is worthy enough to be a novel I would defiantly say yes. When I initially started reading the book I didn’t think it would be a good book, but as I read more and more of the story it became very interesting. In my opinion, Truman Capote made the book so that every part that you read makes you wonder what is going to happen next. Some of those emotions were fear, sadness, as well as feeling sympathy for the family. In the book some of the ways the characters showed fear was when friend’s of the Clutter family did not know what was going on with them for example when they were not answering their door or their phone or going to church. Perry also had a fear of nuns and priests and everytime he would see one it would bring him back to his childhood per Perry’s words he says “Priest and nuns have had thier chance with me. I’m still wearing the scars to prove it.” (Capote 288-289) Alvin Dewey’s wife showed some fear in the book when Mr. Dewey was saying he wanted to settle on his farm but “The dream of settling on his farm had not come true, for his wife 's fear of living in that sort of isolation had never lessened.” (Capote 341). When It come’s to saddness/feeling sympathy for the family the murder of the Clutter family was sad for the town. They were missed by many people but to name a few Susan Kidwell, Bobby Rupp, and obviously Mr.Clutter’s two older daughter’s. In my personal life I have experianced these emotions as well several times. One example of when I felt fear is recently in 2015 I had my first bowel obstruction surgery and I thought I was dying the pain was unbearable. I ended up having surgey and it was tough for me because I didnt want to be away from my daughter but I had to go thru it …show more content…

Just as in the book these random terrorist/killer’s are killing innocent people for petty or no reason at all. This book make’s you ask yourself who can you trust, or is justice ever served by putting these thype of people to death. People that are just like you and I who have hobbies or who work full-time can be the one’s who could turn around and kill you for no reason. Another thing about In Cold Blood that relates to time now is It can bring up an arguement of the capital punishment due to in the book where Dick and Perry were hung infront of an invited audience. On page 337-343 (Capote) It is the whole time of the hanging and Dewey was there to observe the whole hanging of both Dick and Perry. I also believe that In Cold Blood remains one of the best selling books because there are so many things you can bring up for discussion when you read this book and I think it will always relate to current events because things like this sadly are happening more and
