Introduction
Imagine if you will an organization where there is no law and order, where the environment is that of an everything goes mentality. Workers are free to do as they please without any fear of reprisal or repercussions, and chaos reigns supreme. Interaction among coworkers is non-existent, and professionalism does not exist.
A Code of Ethics are what guides the behavior of an organization, and it guides the quality that the organization will live by. When I served in the Army for 21 years I lived by a set of values that guided me each and every day, and these values laid the foundation not just for myself but for all soldiers to live by. The values of Loyalty, Duty, Self-Respect, Honor, Integrity and personal Courage are what guides the professionalism of our fighting force and allows us all to interact with one another while guiding the behavior of our interacting with one another.
As such when interacting in the personal or business arena I want a Code of Ethics that would fall along the lines of what I have lived by throughout my 21 year Army career.
My Codes of ethics
As I conducted research on various examples of Codes of Ethics I have created several that would be of profound use to me in the personal and business world especially in the IT profession. The codes that I would incorporate for daily use would be:
• All shall be treated with proper dignity and respect that is so deserved: Equal opportunity for all will be the top priority when dealing with people. They shall be afforded the proper dignity and respect and there will be an environment that will promote non-discrimination. There will be no discrimination based on factors such as race, age, gender, sexual orientation nor anything else cover...

The military has ingrained a set of standard by setting the seven Army values, Equal Opportunity programs, and Army regulations that govern how we act during ethical dilemmas. These programs and beliefs are especially important because each Soldier comes from a different background and environment, and cannot afford to have disruptions in workplace that can put our Soldiers in the way of harm. In order to maintain a healthy environment we need to keep defining and promoting an ethical

Broadly defined business ethics is, knowing the difference between what is right and what is wrong. It is the written and unwritten, principles and values that govern how decisions are made within a company (Cross & Miller, 2012). The focus of business ethics is to identify the moral standard, and provides guidelines to follow when making tough ethical decisions. Unethical behavior is typically the result of corrupted interactions between individuals within the organization (Brown & Mitchell, 2010). Many times, unethical acts steam for behaviors that are socially or culturally acceptable within the organization. Ethical behavior can enhance a work environment and maximizes contentment, while unethical behavior may have the opposite affect. Not only can this behavior cause stress in the work place, there is the possibility of it ruining a business (Cross & Miller, 2012). Unlike corporate governance, ethical standards are not as easy to define. A code of ethics expresses fundamental principles and provides guidance to decision makers, but there are no set rules written into a code of ethics. A code of conduct is created using a company’s code of ethics. It is a statement of standard that discloses how a company chooses to conduct its business activities (Driscoll &Hoffman, 2011). Following the scandals of the early 2000’s, many companies adopted a code of conduct to ensure the compliance
The code of ethics are a guide of principles designed to help professionals conduct business honestly and with integrity.1Most organization have codes of ethics that its members are required to follow and it lays out the rules and acceptable behavior of its the members of ethics and which actions are acceptable or not acceptable business practices. One industry where professional codes of ethics is important is health care. Most health care workers belong to an accredited organization of their profession, such American Medical Association (AMA), American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and American Nurses Association. They may also be required to have additional certification and rules they must follow based on the laws of the individual
To provide an example of a breach of ethical conduct in the workplace, we may remember the case of a financial manager in a corporation that decided not to pay overtime to some employees. After a deep outside investigation, the company was summoned with thousands of dollars to remedy the payment that was supposed to be paid to all employees who worked more than forty hours per week. Again, it is needed more than just a booklet stating that the company adheres to the code of business ethics. It is needed serious managers that can run the company with the most seriousness as possible. Consequently, any written codes of business ethics, regardless of how well it has been crafted, need people that adhere to its internal content with a serious desire to do the right thing.
A code of ethics is a formal document in which is used to assist members of an organization, to know what’s ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong’ in the work place and applying it to their decisions. A code of ethics is a written set of rules or guidelines to help the workers and management ‘conduct’ or direct their actions with its primary values and ethical standards. A code of ethics is important because without it, employees and management wouldn’t have guidelines and the establishment would resemble a crazy house. Consider the establishment, Dunkin Donuts. Dunkin Donuts is a food establishment well-known for their famous donuts, coffee and their slogan “America runs on Dunkin”. Without a code of ethics, the industry would most likely be extremely hard to control.
