Purpose
The code of ethics applies to all employees, officers, and board members of the organization. All business representatives are expected to conduct business in a legal and ethical manner at all times and are responsible for conducting themselves according to the principles set forth. While this code of ethics is meant to be comprehensive, it does not cover all possible scenarios. It is important to handle questionable situations with integrity and morality, but if you are unsure of how to proceed please contact your manager or ethics officer.

If employees did not abide by these principles it would be detrimental to business because shareholders and customers would lose their trust in the company. The other ethical guidelines are related to following laws and regulations. Failure of an employee to do this can create a myriad of problems for an organization. When acting as a company representative and failing to follow regulations, it is not just the individual that faces legal repercussions; the business itself does as well. To avoid these types of situations it is important to emphasize the importance of acting within the bounds of the law. In essence, ethics in business protects all parties: the organization, the employees, and the customers.
