Challenges that you have face can include many types of subjects like what kind of coach you are, taking advantage of opportunities, dealing athletes and parents, a budget, school board, communicating with the players, and even marriage. Being a coach's son I have seen many of these challenges first hand. Coaching is a challenge in itself and can pose a threat on many aspects of someone's life. Some athletes may think that the the only reason they are in high or college is to play a sport. For some college athletes this may be true only because they might play on the professional level. The term student athlete is used a lot in coaching. This term is to help the athlete understand that he is a student first and an athlete second. With most male athletes average about a C or C+ in the four years they spend on the high school level. Female athletes average about a B to A- on the high school level. Female athletes understand in order to play they have to pass, but they want to do more than pass they want to have good grades. I know being a male athlete I did not pay much attention to grades, I did enough to pass and play the sport I was in at the moment. In Somerville High School the football teams receives about $2,000 to buy what they need for the year. I’ve talked to a few coaches from there and they all seem to say that they need more money for their sport. Dealing with a budget is hard because you have to make all the money you have last as long as possible. “Stretching a dime in a dollar is probably the best way to describe how dealing with a budget works.” Coach House. Coach Blackmon states that having so little money is hard because the baseball team has to buy new baseballs, clothes, and pay scholarship money every year. College athletes attend post-secondary schools in order to receive an education and to participate in sports. “Student athletes participate in an organized competitive sport sponsored by the educational institution in which he or she is enrolled. Student athletes must typically balance the roles of being a full-time student and a full-time athlete” (“Student athlete” 1). Additionally, some people believe athletes should receive a salary. However, paying college athletes hurts the school, the sports, and the athletes.
There is a reason that they are called student-athletes and not athlete-students, because being a student should come first. In many cases, however, it appears that it is the other way around. Colleges are focusing more on athletics than academics today, but colleges must start concerning themselves more with students' futures in the real world because very few will use their athletic experiences as much as they will use their education after they graduate.
The dynamics of the coach athlete relationship in youth sports are a very vital part of the sporting arena. This topic interests me because of my developing coaching career while dealing with the youth. The performance of the team does not solely relay on the coaches or athlete’s ability. There have been instances when interactions between the coach and player have not been optimum. Indiana Coach Bob Knight is universally known for several technical fouls and being ejected from the games on various occasions during his tenure. He is infamously known for his horrible temper and the harsh manner in which he dealt with the member of his team. While he was often seen as displaying lack of control and discipline when dealing with his players, he still is regarded as having a very successful career (Freidman, 2013).
My coaches pushed me and stressed how important grades was and making plays on the field was. He made sure we were well taken care of, fed and that we were giving back to our community just as much as it was giving to us. The school I went to holds a lot of tradition so the community was a major factor and wearing our school name around was like carrying the torch at the Olympics, you had to be on your best behavior and making sure you were doing something positive. Cons of being The Coach – nobody wants to watch the game with you. They think you’re annoying and take it way too seriously. Sadly, you’re 100 percent dedicated to sports and don’t really do anything else. Your peers get sick of hearing about sports because of you. Your obsession could kill your social life.

As a coach you do fail sometimes and that's what is difficult but Michael Jordan once said, “I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeeded.” I believe that this goes for coaching as well because you are going to fail over and over again and you will soon see that those failures are actually your accomplishments. No one said life was easy but coaching can be easy and it’s a way to connect with players and others and bring out the best in people and show that people can work together and accomplish many things no matter how difficult or hard it is and it can be fun and thrilling at the same

As an athlete I will continue to show my coaches the up most respect. Just this year, I have learned that being a coach is a tough job and that a lot of hours are put in to it. I never realized it until I came to the gym late at night and my coach was still here getting things prepared for our next game. As I observe, I will hopefully learn some different strategies I can use one day when I’m a coach one day. It will help me in the long run because when I become a coach, I plan to be the best coach I can be with many winning
“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will”. Being a football coach requires someone who can be a great communicator. This person needs to understand communication on both sides an individual can not just demand that it's a one way street where you talk and athletes listen. The career of coaching requires history of the game knowledge of the game, extensive education, and positive and negatives aspects of the game.
Student athletes live very busy lives. A typical school day runs from 8:00-2:30, add in a two- hour practice or game, score a part time job, dive into some family time, a grand slam of homework and catch a little bit of sleep. Students are more stressed due to the many activities they are a part of. This issue affects a lot of people not only in this school district, but most other high schools throughout the country. All student athletes exercise more than other children who are not involved in an extracurricular sport. Coaching, however challenging, is a great way to influence the lives of others while also building their character. For as long as there have been sports, there have been people teaching the sport to the players and making them better at it. Coaches must have certain qualities in order to obtain success. One must also look at a coach’s motivation for his job, his passion for what he does, his methods for coaching, and how he became a coach in order to fully understand him. There are many questions someone may want to ask a coach about his profession if they are interested in coaching. Some questions would include: Why did he choose this as a profession? How did he get into coaching? What does one have to do to get a job as a coach? How does a coach become successful? I aim to answer all of these questions and more in my paper.
The word coach in a dictionary means a process that enables learning and development to occur and thus performance to improve. This means, being successful requires a knowledge and understanding of the process as well as the variety of styles, skills, and techniques that are appropriate to the context in which the coaching takes place. Next is mentoring, which means off-line help by one person to another in making significant transitions in knowledge, work or thinking. Both are very efficient whenever you’re dealing with student-athletes. However, mentoring, particularly in its traditional sense, enables an individual to follow in the path of an older and wiser colleague who can pass on knowledge, experience and open doors to otherwise out-of-reach opportunities. Coaching, on the other hand, is not generally performed on the basis that the coach has direct experience of their client’s formal occupational role unless the coaching is specific and skills focused. Given that shows there are professionals offering their services under the name of mentoring who have no direct experience of their clients’ roles and others offering services under the name of coaching who do. In other words, it is essential to determine what needs are productive, and to ensure that the coach or mentor can supply their student-athletes with the level of service that is required; whatever that service is
