There are many classical composers that people around the world know by name. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Joseph Haydn, Johann Sebastian Bach are all composers known for being iconic musical composers. However, there are film score composers like Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Trent Reznor, and James Horner, who has changed how the audience looks at music in their favorite films. In particular, James Horner was the type of composer that enhanced the cinematic experience for me and other individuals who appreciate the music being intertwined with the story of the film. Also, before reaching success in the film industry, he was an accomplished concert hall composer. James Horner lived a life that showcased his talents and contributions to the …show more content…
He also composed the theme music for CBS Evening News from 2006 to 2011. Not many film composers can say that their work could be heard on television almost every evening. Horner then re-collaborated with James Cameron for the 2009 film called Avatar. Shockingly, Avatar surpassed Titanic at the box office becoming the highest grossing film of all-time. James had to solely focus on this soundtrack and not accept any of work while doing this film. He spent time collaborating to create an alien language for the Na’vi race. In my opinion, that must have took a lot of effort and thought to have it translate through the screen in a believable fashion. He also invented new percussion instruments for the native music for the moon Pandora. It may not be the most memorable score that he has done. However, there is no denying that all his experience leading up to Avatar allowed him to show his creative side in a different sense. His two years working on Avatar earned him award nominations such as, Golden Globe, Grammys, Academy Award, and British Academy Film Award. He also composed scores for The Karate Kid (2010), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), and SouthPaw …show more content…
He was survived by his wife Sara and their two children. Composers such as Paul Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Alan Menken paid their respects to the fellow composer. James clearly was an inspiration to his fellow composers and the actors that he met while working on these blockbuster films. James blended traditional harmonies and a conventional orchestra with ethnic instruments. Undoubtedly, he used thematically dramatic orchestral effects with his music. He had the ability to write songs that captured the essence of each scene of the films. In my opinion, you could tell that he cared about the emotional impact on the audience created by his scores. It is brilliant how effortlessly he was able to show the lament of personal loss, growth, change, and death in various films. The Award outlets recognized his raw talent otherwise he would not have been nominated so many times. Hence, there needs to be more innovative film score composers that can connect with the audience through their music. No doubt, he has created some of the best film soundtracks of my generation. Not many film score composers can say that their work has made millions of dollars and reached a vast number of people around the world. His legacy will live on to all of us who continue to appreciate his contributions to the film and music
Classical music can be best summed by Mr. Dan Romano who said, “Music is the hardest kind of art. It doesn't hang up on a wall and wait to be stared at and enjoyed by passersby. It's communication. Its hours and hours being put into a work of art that may only last, in reality, for a few moments...but if done well and truly appreciated, it lasts in our hearts forever. That's art, speaking with your heart to the hearts of others.” Starting at a young age Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven have done just that with their musical compositions. Both musical composers changed the world of music and captivated the hearts of many. Their love of composing shared many similar traits, though their musical styles were much different.
The film soundtrack was an important element in creating the juxtaposed world that Taymor desired. Taymor selected Elliot Goldenfall, a veteran composer for the stage and screen whom she had known for twenty years, to head the scoring. Their long association served them well in this endeavor - the final film score was both stunning and effective in combining ancient and modern musical elements. Goldenfall manipulated four main musical styles to score the film (symphonic, jazz, hard rock, and aria), and each style represented particular emotions.
...lassical composers, I applaud this man for his creativity, style, but most of all for the great contribution he has made to the music and film world.
In 1983, a record company recommended Hisaishi to Hayao Miyazaki as a possible candidate to create the Image Album for Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, which, at the time, was being made into a movie. (Team Ghiblink, Nausicaa.net) Hisaishi’s soundtrack for Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind was a balance between electronic and classical music, a blending of new compositions along with covers of Handel and Brahms's music. (Dasnoy & Tsong, 2013) Miyazaki, inevitably, was highly impressed with Hisaishi’s Image Album and frequently listened to it during the production of the film. The soundtrack for the film was slated to be composed by its producer, Isao Takahata. However, after Miyazaki’s strong recommendation f...
After listening to all four movements of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C minor, I have suddenly been awakened to the tremendous influence that the Classical Form of music has had on modern day works, especially in the area of the film industry which it is used to create drama, tension, and joy. History owes a debt of gratitude to composers such as Ludwig van Beethoven, who build upon the legacy of pioneers such as Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to create his own unique blend of symphonic compositions which will be revered throughout generations because of their continued appeal to the
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as he is generally known, was baptized in a Salzburg Cathedral on the day after his birth as Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus. The first and last given names come from his godfather Joannes Theophilus Pergmayr, although Mozart preferred the Latin form of this last name, Amadeus, more often Amadé, or the Italiano Amadeo, and occasionally the Deutsch Gottlieb. Whatever the case may be, he rarely - if ever - used Theophilus in his signature. The name Chrysostomus originates from St. John Chrysostom, whose feast falls on the 27th of January. The name Wolfgang was given to him in honor of his maternal grandfather, Wolfgang Nikolaus Pertl.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will always be known as one of the best musicians of all time. Although his life lasted half the length of a normal human, he most likely did more with his time than people do today. His greatness will unfortunately never be fully understood due to confusion on how his life was lived and even how he died, but everyone knows he had a gift.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven are very famous past composers that have created many pieces that have influenced not just people of their time, but people in modern times as well.
The greatest work of Ben Burtt can be heard in the Star Wars films. It was with the original trilogy that he created many
Director Nicholas Ray was lucky to have a talented composer create an original score for Rebel Without A Cause. Leonard Rosenman was born in 1924 and studied music in New York and Europe. His work as a film composer and arranger is very traditional, and has been regarded by some music critics as "insignificant." However, Rosenman received Academy Awards and Oscar nominations for his work. Along with film scores, Rosenman wrote theme music and scores for numerous television shows. The score in Rebel Without A Cause is much like another film starring James Dean, East of Eden.
The Genius of Mozart documentary it starts with Mozart’s father, Leopold Mozart, which Wolfgang Mozart had got his passion of music from. They were close with one another and developed a close bond that connected with no only Father and Son but as well as music. His father was not only his father; he was a teacher to Mozart. Mozart’s father said he was a light that was contributed to others, and that he would not belong to just one class. As Wolfgang Mozart grew up, he had to deal with an illness called arthritis. Leopold was close to his son and he knew everything about Mozart from top to bottom. Even things that we still to this day do not know about Mozart. Mozart uses music to express his emotions like many other composers do as well. Mozart
The correlation between music and individuals is a very heavily researched topic. This literature review will critically evaluate the claim made by Don Campbell (1997, p.24) that ‘playing Mozart makes babies smarter’.
