Class Reflection
My English teacher in high school taught us the standard five paragraph organization for an essay. But, I never liked that organization because I felt by following that process my essay would lose its uniqueness. When I started this class I thought this course would be like all the others I have taken in the past, all following the same pattern, but this was different. When we started our first essay “Writing to Share an Experience” the directions to the students were “organize and use the rules to your benefit.” To me, this was freedom to express my ideas. I was no longer bound by the five paragraph organization. I could try and experiment new styles in my writing process. During this course my writing has evolved a great amount. Before I took English 1101 i assumed i was good at writing, but during this semester I found lot of my week points and worked hard to minimize them. I have reached the next level of writing with the help of my professor. His feedback was immediate and clear which was very helpful in identifying my mistakes and correcting them. I have learned new things throughout this course.

Some of the peers did not feel good about the sentence structure and organization, so I arranged the essay in a chronological order for my organization. I used the feedback from my peers and the professor to make changes in my essay. I read my essay out lout to find mistakes and I went over it a couple of times to make it perfect. ... middle of paper ... to share an experience, it was like me talking to one of my friend about an event that took place in my life. On the other hand, the essay that slowed me down was writing to analyze, I had to figure out what I was going to analyze and write my paper on, which was difficult for me as i never wrote an essay based on a movie. I learned a lot of new thing during this course and improved a lot of my week points. People write to express what they are feeling and how they view the situation. Writing is a way of releasing your thoughts and stress without standing out in public and talking in front of people. Many people are have fear of public speaking, so this is a good way for them to present their thoughts. I am one of them, and you professor have helped me come out of my shell thank you, for all your help. I know I am still not perfect, but I will try to do my best.
