The Civil war and Reconstruction, both had profound effects on america in various political, economic, and social ways. both of these periods in time had different effects depending on the area which can be divided as the North and the South. Both of these areas experienced different alterations depending on the way that they had been influenced by the civil war and reconstruction. these alterations had both positive and negative effects which lead to the American society we know now.
America politically changed during the civil war in many ways, one such way was how the morrill tariff act had been passed along with other political decrees. such as the national banking system, the 1862 homestead act, the suspended privilege of the habeas corpus, the Congress ' first Conscription Act, and the emancipation proclamation. another way it politically changed was how the civil war had divided the states in two regions which caused the southern states to create a new government that put great emphasis in the state rights. some other political changes were how the people had created the congressional committee on the conduct of war in 1861 which had been formed by “radical” republicans. another effect of the war was the separation of the Democrats, which formed the “War Democrats” which supported Lincoln and the “Peace Democrats” which did not. another group was called the copperheads and they openly obstructed the war with attacks against war, Lincoln, and after 1861, emancipation.
some of the economical changes of the civil war involved excessive taxes on tobacco and alcohol which had been increased by congress and also a levied income tax. another economical impact also involved the Morrill Tariff Act that suspended the low tariff ...

... while the 15th amendment guaranteed the right of all male citizens to vote without account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. also over 600,000 men died and over a million were killed or seriously wounded. this amounted to about 2 percent of the nation 's population. In addition tens of thousands of babies went unborn due to the fact that potential fathers were fighting.
The civil war and Reconstruction had a great impact on America and helped shape the society in which we live now. The two eras in time affected the social, political, and economical fabric of american society in many different ways but now the nation in which we know now finally has equality.although reaching equality may have involved many hardships equality was able to be reached and African Americans were finally able to live a life they deserved plus the nation became one again.
