We all have a busy life where unfortunately we all don’t get to focus our entire dedication to one thing. We are forced to focus on everything that is going on in our lives all at the same time. Focusing our effort and energy on different things at the same time involves us not putting our full dedication to each and every subject. When we go to work, work out, and spend some time with our families can we truly give our entire focus to each and everything thing of these? I believe it is impossible because while doing one thing our mind gets interrupted by the other things we have to put our focus in. Therefore, we do not all get to truly put our entire focus on each thing we have to take care of in our lives. I feel this is a great example on how all commissioners function. There are so many issues in all our cities that the city commissioners do not get to cover all of them and put their entire focus on all of them.
For my assignment I viewed the video of the city commission meeting that took place in McAllen TX on 11/25/13. They began the meeting by doing the pledge of allegiance which is very common on an important event. They also had a speech thanking the lord for all the great things that we all have and also congratulated one of the commissioners for her birthday. Throughout this entire meeting I felt that there was a lot of sense of humor which I find good but at the same time it takes a lot of time out of the time that could be used on important city issues. I also never knew that they will introduce the Miss. McAllen title holders in a city commission meeting. I do not have anything against the pageants but I believe it is more important to take hands into action and get to the point at the meetings. Instead of spending...

...hood. She explained that there are all kinds of people living in that neighborhood that been living there for a very long time. She also mentioned that if that night club opens up it will disturb the entire community and that she has 61 people who signed a petition but are unable to attend the meeting. When her speech was translated they did not explain every single concern to the council. One of the council members just briefly explained to the rest of the council members that there are 61 persons that signed her petition and that there are young children and elderly people in that neighborhood. I would have liked for them to explain every single detail to the rest of the council so they can be aware of entirely her concerns. This is where I believe that the council was not responsive entirely to the concerns of the citizens specially by rushing every single issue.

In January of 1990, Washington, DC, the seat of the federal government of the United States was turned upside down by scandal. While the headlines were filled with the efforts of the Bush Administration to crack down on drugs, the District's Mayor and symbol of black power against a nearly all white backdrop of authority was caught on videotape buying and than smoking crack cocaine with an exotic dancer two days before he was expected to announce an unprecedented fourth campaign for mayor. The sting was setup and carried out by a Federal Bureau of Investigation unit that had been pursing the frequent rumors of the Mayor's drug dependency.
The problem, however, comes down to the fact that although these planners are able to find solutions to neighborhood problems, they lack the power, money, and means to make real changes occur. Even if a solution is raised, the decision has to not only get the approval of the specific department in which it deals but it also must be approved by the Department head and the Planning Commission. For these reasons, the process to make change happen takes a very long time . The lengthy process prevents policies and changes from adapting quickly to fast pace urban
“She represents the type of womanhood America needs, strong, red-blooded, able to shoulder the responsibilities of homemaking and motherhood. It is in her type that the hope of the country rests” (Martin & Watson, 2004, p.3). This was Samuel Gompers sharing his thoughts about the very first “Miss America”, Margaret Gorman. The Miss America Pageant was established in the most fitting of all decades: the 1920s. During a time when women were just starting to experience newfound independence and rights, the Miss America Pageant strengthened the idea that women had more freedom to express themselves. The competition began as a simple tourist attraction, but the fact that the Miss America Pageant survived throughout the decades exemplifies that the competition was so much more.
The Dahlonega City Hall was crowded on the evening of March 1st 2010. The seats were full, except for at the very front, and the standing room was filled almost out the door. The crowd, mostly made up of students, leaned in to hear as the voices of the City Council members faded in and out of the faltering sound system. The six City Council members and the mayor sat along a bench as if they were the judges at a hearing. Because of the ongoing discussions and the crowd, I thought I had arrived a few minutes late; but I was able to find a seat in the front two rows. Despite how packed the small room was there were plenty of empty seats in the front. I had thought the meeting was well on its way by the way conversation was going and apparently I was not the only one who shared this feeling. After a solid forty-five minutes of talking about parking laws and if there was a parking problem in the city, the mayor stood up and thanked everyone for coming. Most people took this as a sign that the meeting was over and started to pack up and leave. However this was just the meetings call to order. Following a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance the City Council meeting began.

Baltimore offers a very general issue that many planners face today when it comes to community participation and taking decisions and the quality to the outcomes of these meetings. Although the planners could have gone the distance in understanding the community identity and diversity often times it becomes harder for planners in their roles to wear the hats of sociologists and go about affecting the outcomes through educating the community. Understanding the roots of any community is very important in taking decisions for its future course. The way the planners acted here is more a natural course of action that most of the planners go by today. Baum asks for the planners to be enforcers to be ethical in this case pushing the agenda of common good that is probably ignored by the homeowners that participate for their own self interests. He also says the issue crops when planners do not do more to create the climate for everybody to feel emotionally on the same page for them to feel more comfortable in seeing not just their own interests but others, thereby allowing them to see the diversity in the community without feeling shame or depression.
She blames tech companies for raising rents and running out everyone but the rich out of San Francisco. She attempts to persuade everyone that San Francisco shouldn’t change and how the community is getting hurt. Her intended audience is the rest of the community and city leaders to convince them to stop this technology uproar in San Francisco. She appeals to the audience emotionally with sad tales about how the culture of San Francisco is changing. How the poor including the middle class are being driven out of San Francisco with all its artists, musicians, and

The Santa Fe Metropolitan Planning Organization (SFMPO) is developing a Teen Mobility Plan with the support of the Federal Transit Administration and the New Mexico Department of Transportation. can all sit down comfortably. They can eat, drink, and have conversations in a logical and pleasing approach for hours on end. Each assembly can advocate their beliefs and ideas as well as build relations and bring problems into proper light. When Americans come into this establishment and begin to come in contact with today’s problems in society their mind grows, and the picture of life on the stage whose underlying interest is truth. We hear the problems of children and pregnant women who face unfair work, we hear about the workers who work over the hours they are supposed to, strikes that are going to take place etc. Here at Polly’s we hear the real problems that people face and the speeches given by the villagers, suffragist, and laborers help bring fourth discussions, questions, and answers regarding the tough problems each group is facing. All speeches deserve respect, what I mean by this is that each patron should be engaged during the speech. Each of you should be asking questions and participating in the discussions held after each speech. With this it will help bring more knowledge to each topic being discussed that day. Each of you should want to know every aspect of the problems being brought fourth in the speeches given. Voting day is coming up and being welcomed into Polly’s with open arms is your way of gathering information and hearing the ideas of fellow
Whereas, participating in public meetings both at the government and community levels can often have immediate effects there are often issues of accessibility. I believe we can remedy these kinds of barriers to participate by working with community organizations and elected officials.
Several times we have had lip-sync battles in which the leaders are strongly encouraged to take part in. The results of these battles are fantastic for the most part, with everyone having fun and laughing by the end of the night, although, it can be a bit awkward and humiliating for those individuals who went on stage unprepared… Truthfully, I would forget about them until I arrive at the church, resulting in my lack of preparation. I don’t recommend picking a song you don’t know and just “winging it”, the end result can be extremely embarrassing. Along with these lip-sync battles and gym games, we’ve held other events like “game night” and a lock-in.
I live in a small town with simply 576 people and one traffic light, my school consists of an even less amount of students (including middle schoolers). although my city is tiny and my school is even smaller, we continuously come together as a community and work to make a greater impact within the world. I’m apart of this organization/class known as student government association (SGA). In SGA we are the organizers of most of our school’s events; (including but not limited to) pep rallies, homecoming events/dress up days, teachers appreciation week, and prom. One year (2016), we were presented with the opportunity to fly to Washington, DC to attend a Leadership experience and Development (LEAD) Conference.
On, April 2014 Flint, Michigan city manager made a decision that he thought would have been best for the city to save money. The city manager that was appointed by Republican Governor Rick Snyder switch to Flint river from Detroit water system; Instead it resulted in plenty individuals breaking out in rashes, deaths, behavioral issues and the people of flint having to rely on aid water from celebrities, national guard and aid water because of the contaminated water. Even though this crisis started way back in April of 2014 the crisis had lack of media coverage, recently late 2015 more individuals are now trying to support the crisis. As the story unfolds the thoughts that came to my mind were why did it take it a year for them to try to switch back to the Detroit water system. Why is money a big issue when many peoples ' lives are at stake? In both incidents were I had witness social inclusion being absent I believe recommendations such as those I listed below will assist with similar issues in the future. Recommendations are having individuals that not only qualified, but also have believed in social justice for all people. Another recommendation is maybe the police system needs to evaluate their police academy trainings. What can the police officers do different to not only protect themselves but others. I believe they should undergo
