At the age of 17, he and his friends dropped out of school to go on a road trip to California. They reached Kansas City and found a pistol left in a parking lot and decided to go on a robbing spree. They got caught by a policeman and spent 10 years in prison. -In mid 1950’s he took a road trip to Chicago, the mid west capital of black music, in search of a record contract. In 1955, he met with Chess Records. He then recorded his song “Maybellene” and showed the record company. They immediately offered him a contract and Maybellene was number one on the chart.

Firstly, Berry is the true king of rock n roll, not Elvis Presley. This is because unlike Presley, Berry wrote and played he’s own songs and not anybody else’s. Chuck’s distinctive guitar riffing (is a sequence or cluster of chords or notes used in a song). This made placed him on the charts in the 1950s. Then made the guitar a symbol of rock n roll.
-He wasn’t just seen as the best rock n roll artist by his fans but, by other famous musicians like John Lennon. Here is a quote said by him “If you tried to give rock n roll another name, you might call it Chuck Berry.” As John Lennon was the most influential songwriter of the modern era he noticed and acknowledged Chuck was influential and was the living definition of the art.

Berry was born about 18 miles from Thomasville, Georgia on November 19, 1833. His parents were James Edward and Lydia (Carlton) Hendry. He had ten brothers and sisters. His father passed away on January 3, 1852 while in Georgia on a business trip. His mother passed away many years later on May 24, 1989, after her second marriage.

There have been many bigshot artists that have gone down in music history over the years. One man in particular, however, will forever be known all over the world for his famous works and amazing stage performances. This man is none other than the one and only Jimi Hendrix. Hendrix altered the style of rock and roll during the late 60’s early 70’s and is widely considered one of the most influential guitar players amongst the music world to this day.
Though he was an American, his performance provided a sort of subtle style of rock and roll. At this point in time, the subtle style of rock and roll was more associated with the British who tried to not go over the top in their performances. Buddy appeared to be more of a “British rock and roller” by his appearance, performance, non-distracting dance moves, and the instruments, music, and tone used in his performance. Appearance wise, he and his band were dressed in matching black tie suits, providing an uniform appearance of his group and showing that they are all equals. This is especially shown in parts where there is an instrumental break and the camera pans to the band members who are enjoying their time on stage performing. The black tuxedos help Holly to exhibit a professionalism on stage that was usually associated with British stars. British performers at that time, at least for me, appeared to be more subdued and not as exaggerated when they perform. Buddy Holly captures this characteristic by just focusing on the music he is performing and not on his stage presence. Berry Gordy Jr. was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1929 to middle-income parents. Gordy had dropped out of high school after his junior year. He had gotten drafted into the Army in 1951 to fight the Korean War. He created Motown in Detroit, Michigan with an $800 loan from his family. Gordy was a former boxer and an automobile worker before he created Motown (was called Tamla Records) out of his house. Gordy was a songwriter also, he wrote songs for Smokey Robinson, Jackie Wilson and Marv Johnson for 10 years before to Motown’s inception. Elvis Presley changed the music world as they knew it back in the 50’s he came out with a wild new style unlike any other. Even to this day if you hear Elvis’ name you automatically think of his signature style or as the king of rock and roll. Hound Dog was controversial for it’s time and made extra controversial by Elvis’ moves and how the ladies would swoon and storm the stage to see him. Presley was so ahead of his time that most adults didn’t because of his so-called vulgar ways but the younger generation went crazy for Elvis and his new style of blues meets country hence creating rock and becoming the king.
