The Qur’an retains many of the similar aspects of the Christian perspective of God. Through studying the aspects of the Islamic faith years ago, and reading the book of the Muslims this present year, I have come to understand why Muslim’s believe what they believe. The Qur’an contains the fundamentals of the Islamic faith, which include the five pillars of faith and the six main articles of faith. Allah is eternal and all-powerful; he is claimed to be the only God. In the Qur’an, God is mentioned numerous times helping the reader to understand who He is. As well, humanity is an important aspect, for the Qur’an is directed towards humanity to follow God, for they are the most important existence on the earth.
Though it is not specifically mentioned in the Qur’an, there are five pillars of faith and six articles of faith. These are the major elements of the Muslim faith. The Muslim’s will keep their attention on these elements in the name of Allah. The five pillars of faith include profession of faith, prayers, almsgiving, fasting and pilgrimage to Mecca. Profession of faith, is also known as an act to testify ones faith and to vocally acknowledge one’s faith

As humans, they have a duty to honor Him for He is the Ultimate Way to reach Heaven. In terms of the relationship between humanity and God, we are all connected through God in every way. God created us from one; “People, be mindful of your Lord, who created you from a single soul, and from it created its mate, and from the pair of them spread countless men and women far and wide.”(4:1) Humans have a duty towards Allah, they must act on justice and always be mindful of God for he is all knowing in whatever one does. He has blessed all humans, and all of humanity should be thankful towards Him through following the five pillars of faith and acknowledging and believing in the six main articles of
The first and foundational pillar of Islamic faith is confession. The Muslim will publicly confess proclaiming “there is no God but God, and Muhammad is the apostle of God” (Corduan, 2012, p.118). In this a person is confirming submission to the authority of one God and the authority that God gave Muhammed (Corduan,
The Islamic faith was founded by Muhammad, considered “the last prophet who came to restore the true religion” (Fisher, 2014) by Muslim devotees. Muhammad is not worshipped as a god, but his life and good deeds serve as models for Muslims. The prophet was greatly compassionate and caring and spent
“In thinking about religion, it is easy to be confused about what it is.” (Smart, 1992) To combat this, Smart uses seven dimensions to define common characteristics of religion. Much of what will be explored will fit his dimensions. The practical and ritual dimension can been seen in all three religions through worship and rituals and patterns of behaviour. The latter are those acts that help the believer develop spiritual awareness or ethical insight, such as yoga or meditation in Buddhism and Hinduism. The experiential and emotional dimension of religion explains that religion feeds on human emotions and key events from history to illustrate this is, the enlightenment of the Buddha, or the visions of Muhammad. A person will not follow something without meaning or emotion driving it. The narrative or mythic dimension of religion refers to the use of story telling in religion. Typically, all faiths use stories to illustrate their beliefs or events in history, whether they might be of things to come, or like in this essay, stories of the Buddha, or Muhammad. The use of story telling is important as the stories are often based on accounts of history or documents that have been found. Story telling can enhance the believers faith and are often integrated into rituals. The doctrinal and philosophical dimension of religion talks about the importance of the holy books/ doctrines. Since the doctrines typically have an account of the leaders life, and the leaders are usually educated, believers read the doctrines to gain an insight into the leaders life; and thus strive to become more like them or abide by their teachings. The ethical and legal
..., anyone that decides to pursue Him as their Savior is a Christian. It is through Jesus Christ that a person is born again spiritually and made alive through Him.
Islam and the worship of Allah (god) began with Muhammad and his revelations that lasted for 23 years of his life from (610 C.E.- 623 C.E.). In the Islamic religion it is believed that he was the last prophet sent by Allah (god) and this made all his teachings into to Law and are looked at as the will of God. These messages were given to him through the archangel Gabriel, in a kind of continuation to the Jewish Torah and Christian Bible, which the Qur’an shares some similarities or past “history” with them such as the belief in Abraham and Jesus as a prophet, but in the eye’s of Mohammad the Jews and Christians had fallen astray from the real teaching of god.
3) Five Pillars of Islam- The Five Pillars of Islam are five important actions that all Muslims must complete during their life. Muslims must recite the profession of faith, pray five times a day facing Mecca, give alms, fast during the month of Ramadan, and make a pilgrimage to Mecca. The Five Pillars of Islam are the base for the whole religion of Islam. The pilgrimage to Mecca is the only one that is not required; if a person is not able to go at all, they are not required to.
There are five major religions in the world and in one way or another, they are similar to each other. I turned ALL five religions into a Mural to show unity and peace. All religions are different, but they are similar in one way or another. For instance, all religions have a Holy Book. For Buddhism it’s Tripitaka, and for Hinduism, it’s the Holy Vedas. For Christianity, it’s the Holy Bible and for Judaism it Torah. Last but not least, for Islam it’s Ouran. The religions of Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all have Holy Books and God name in Common.
Islam 's fundamental duties, practices, and beliefs are summarized in the Five Pillars of the faith, laid down in one of the Prophet 's Hadith and accepted by all Muslims. The five pillars are, the profession of faith, the daily prayer, payment of the Zakat, fasting during Ramadan, and the pilgrimage to Mecca. These are religious obligation of the Islamic practice. Although Christian 's religion is summarized in the Ten Commandments, the two faiths have similar and ideas, practices, and beliefs. The similarities can be seen through the rules of the holy writings and by the specific actions preformed both outside and in the worship places.
Introduction: The Belief in God as the creator and sustainer of the universe is central to the Christian,Jewish and Islamic religions. These religions are connected historically. This essay is going to focus on how Christianity and Islam are similar to and differ from each other. Christianity and Islam are very similar in that they both have rules, rituals and traditions, sacred texts, laws that influence how they all view God.
The term monotheism is significant to Islam, meaning that a belief in only one God. The first article of faith in Islam is the belief that there is no deity but God (Allah) and that Muhammad is the messenger of God. A belief in a number of gods or in the extension of God’s spirituality to any person is strongly forbidden. Islam rejects the human points that the Christians and Jews added to their doctrines, such as the incarnation of God. It has been estimated that over ninety percent of Muslim theology deals with the implications of Unity. God, while One, is referred to by ninety-nine names (Fisher 233).
Both Christianity and Islam have monotheistic beliefs. Monotheism is the belief that there is only one God, contrary to this would be polytheism, the belief that there are many Gods. In Christianity, the Supreme Being is called, God. Christians, followers of the Christian faith, believe God is the creator and sustainer
In the Islamic faith there are five pillars that they must follow to their best ability. The Salaht, the Hajj, they must give to the poor, fasting during the month of Ramadan, and repetition of the creed, "There is no God but Allah; Muhammad is the messenger of Allah." These pillars are more like obligations in the Islamic religion.
When you become a Muslim, you believe salvation is dependent on man, not God. There are five pillars of Islam, these five pillars are the Muslims acts of worship to Allah. Allah means God. The five pillars of Islam are
The Islamic Qur’an and the Christian Bible. During ancient times, believers basically memorized these stories. There was initially no written forms of the Qua’ran or the Gospel. The new testament was not compiled till AD 400 and the Qur’an around 600. Interestingly, the Qur’an can only be referred to as the Qur’an when it is in Arabic. All translations of the Qur’an are titled differently. Both religions believe that though written by mortal men, the texts come directly from God. The Islamic Qur’an somewhat parallels the Christian Bible. Characters found in the Bible and the Qur’an include: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, and Jesus (Isa). Not found in the Bible is: Hud, Salih, Muhammed and Luqman. In the Bible God exist in three forms, God the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. Islam however understands this Trinity as father (Joseph), virgin (Mary), and child (Jesus). Islam identifies the angel Gabriel from whom the revelation to Mohammad came from as the Holy Spirit. The central message of the Gospel is that, Jesus the messiah, Son of God, was crucified and died for our sins but conquered death and was resurrected to heaven. The Qur’an’s central message is that there is only one God,Allah, and Muhammad is the last prophet and Messenger of God. Christians worship Jesus as a God while Muslims honor Mohammad as a prophet. Islam agrees that Jesus was indeed, born of a virgin, the Messiah, and a great
