Language is an irreplaceable role in understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder. On the one hand, language delay is a reasonable signal for diagnosing developmental impairment, on the other hand, language training is also an important prat of interventions or treatments for children with autism. However, because one of the significant feature is the difficult in social interaction that people with autism usually lack social communication with the others, some researchers believe that the language is not impaired (Jordan, 1993), the poor language performance is the results of poor social communication, autism children’ languages abilities are concealed by their sparsely social activities.
This statement faces many challenges in other language studies from some various aspects. Experimental finding revealed that language impairment exists in all the people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Even the number of non-verbal people changed in different studies, for example, Prizant’s research suggest that 50% people with autism had no experience of the functional speech (1996) and this number change to 25% as a normal index in more recently studies (Tager-Flusberg, Paul & Lord, 2005). As well as the problem of non-verbal, developmental delay of language is other noticeable symptom. Unlike the topical developing children present the first world around 8-14 months, children with autism have a significant delay and they generally achieve the same goal at 38 months old (Howlin, 2003). Whether the absence of functional speech or the dramatic delay of language development, language certainly is a difficulty in children with autism.

Evidence can be found form theory of mind theories and executive function hypothesis, language is a weakness in Autism Spectrum Disorder.
