In a game of chess it is crucial that your king is always protected. Life is indeed a game of chess; only the king in this game is the children. Having a child at home; or worse not knowing where they are, is very dangerous because of what becomes of them eventually. Not allowing children to expand their minds and become proactive hurts them in the long run as it Improves you life span and you live healthier.(Harvard School of public health,the benefits of physical activity,www.hsph.harvard.edu) When kids are proactive or involved in something other than the television, it helps them physically, mentally, and even in their social lives.
When kids are not active in an extracurricular activity they often become depressed and socially uncomfortable, in some cases children become overweight and then it is really starts to go downhill. Doing sports encourages healthy strong bodies. Even being active and healthy will boost your confidence(Benefits of Being Active, www.teenweightwise.com). But even being a “couch potato” can be bad even for people who exercise. “Researchers followed more than 50,000 middle-aged women for six years, surveying their diet and activity habits. They found that for every two hours the women spent watching television each day, they had a 23 percent higher risk of becoming obese and 14 percent higher risk of developing diabetes. To sum it all up, Having a child be physically active would defiantly increase their physical, mental and social skills. But the main factor is to just do it. Get your child, even you, to go exercise. When a parent is active with their child’s physical activities, it just encourages them to be more active and have fun with you. I'm glad my parents were able to push me to join a sport when I was young. After that first sport I joined numerous other sports and met a lot of kids who still are my friends till this very day. Even though when I was a child I would shut out everyone in my life, I will always remember my parents also on the sidelines cheering me on and being proud of me after that first game and after that I started opening up to them and enjoying their presence.
