INTRODUCTION

I have always had a flair for database administration even before I completed my Bachelors’ degree in Management Information System in my home country, Lagos, Nigeria. As a result of this, I decided to conduct an informational interview with a professional in that field. On Tuesday, the 10th of November 2015, I had the opportunity to interview Mr. Femi Balogun, who is an expert in database management field. The interview exercise is optional in order to earn an extra credit in my IT and project management class. However, I was able to learn so many things on the long run in my desired field. The informational interview was conducted through a videoconference on Skype, which made it very interesting and professional.

SUMMARY OF WHAT I LEARNT ABOUT THE POSITION FROM RESEARCH BEFORE THE INTERVIEW

According to research, the people accountable for managing an organization’s database are called database administrators. The importance of a database administrator in a society should not be overlooked or treated with levity because they are fully in charge of data’s and information. Some of the examples of popular database management systems are My SQL, Oracle, etc. One of the major roles of a database administrator is to ensure database security. I would like to admit that my father is an inspiration to me, because he is also into database administration and data warehouse management. I always enjoy storing data and information on floppy disk and hard drive whenever I am less busy at home. When I noticed I was more interested in data and information, I decided to take up a career in database administration. It has been a wonderful experience for me so far since I choose this career path, and I have never regretted
