Children of immigrant parents entitled to public education. We don’t realize how hard it is for immigrant parents to get their children education, and we judge and hate on something we have never been through. I guess it’s true you never know someone’s pain unless you go through it. Not everyone has the same privileges as others, some have to work twice as hard to try to give their children an opportunity towards an education on the contrary some American families have it simpler. I not blaming people who have families who were born here or say it’s wrong, but many people tend to affront children of immigrant parents and feel like they have the equitableness to say they aren’t suitable to receive public education. But they’re many immigrants who pay their taxes and do everything right under the law. It still wouldn’t be right to take that privilege away despite their parents “lack” of knowledge. Some don’t know but it can’t be their child’s fault they don’t know better, if we educate these kids correctly they will do things correct under the law when they’re older and even educate their parents to make things right and continue forward. In Subtractive Schooling: US-Mexican Youth and the Politics of Caring, Angela Valenzuela investigates immigrant and Mexican American experiences in education. Valenzuela mentions differences in high schools between U.S born youth and immigrants such as how immigrants she interviewed seemed to achieve in school as they feel privileged to achieve secondary education. However, she found that her study provided evidence of student failure due to schools subtracting resources from these youths. Both are plagued by stereotypes of lacking intellectual and linguistic traits along with the fear of losing their culture. Yet still pay taxes and they form a part of society, many of them can be classmates, colleagues or friends. Often times they do not get the same rights or opportunities that United States citizens do -even though they have lived here for most of their lives. One of the biggest victims of this broken immigration system are the kids of parents who came here without documentation and who brought their kids along hoping to find a better life. These kids live in fear of not being able to do what other kids their age do and that is why DACA has become a lifeline for people in this situation. DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and even though they pay a very high fine to be able to work here legally, it does not grant them citizenship status. The Bush Center states that “ DACA recipients who, despite paying into the system, are entitled to very few state or federal benefits. Higher rates of health insurance mean less uncompensated care, which benefits all of us because uncompensated care is paid for largely through public funds” and them being able to work for less care ultimately helps out the economy. Latino/a immigrants share similar experiences of anti-immigrant rhetoric just like other immigrant groups. Many Latino/as in America have faced negative comments based on their identity. For example, Rush Limbaugh, a radio host, expounds negative comments toward Latino/as, particularly Mexicans. He claimed that Mexicans are “a renegade, potential[ly] criminal element” that is “unwilling to work” (Media Matters for America, 2/28/06). They face many issues such as economic instability, depression, loneliness, fear of being alone and feeling betrayed. Children feel depressed in cases like this because even at a young age they know that things are not okay. They also suffer from fear and being betrayed, they suffer fear because they 're scared of what is going to happen to their family since they 're so used to having their family together. Many times children who face this situations feel like they’ve been betrayed because they don’t know why their mother or father have gone away and not came back. As a young child, I had a feeling of resentment towards my parents as I naively believed that they were not working hard enough to obtain a career that would result in them being able to fulfill the necessities of the family. I thought that my parents were incapable of providing my siblings and I with a stable place to live and with a reliable source of transportation. That was my assumption until I saw a documentary on what undocumented immigrant families left behind in their countries for the better of their family in addition to the setbacks they must undergo to make a living in the land of opportunity.
For many Mexican immigrants, crossing the border into the land of freedom and the American dream is no easy task. Some immigrants come over illegally by means of hiding in cars to cross borders, using visitor visas to stay longer, marrying to become citizens, and having babies as ‘anchors’ to grant automatic citizenship. Other immigrants gain green cards and work visas and work their way into becoming US citizens legally and subsequently gaining citizenship through paperwork for their families back home. After escaping harsh living and working conditions in Mexico, immigrants come to America prepared to gain education, opportunity, and work. This American dream unfortunately does not come to pass for most.

Based on "The Bill of Rights", foreigners do not have the right to enter the United States, but once here, immigrants are entitled to certain broad constitutional protections. In due process, immigrants have the right to be treated fairly, whether in a deportation hearing or a criminal court proceeding applies to every person within The United States borders. And Equal Protection prohibits discrimination based on race or national origin. An alien's rights to free speech and religious freedom are protected under the First Amendment. The Refugee Act of 1980 gives certain aliens the right to political asylum in the U.S. New immigrants to our country are not a scourge as some politicians claim. In fact, they can help solve many of our economic and social problems. Therefore when a child is born of illegal parents, the child should not be refused welfare. In other words, the child should not be treated as a second class citizen. In fact since it was born in the United States, he or she is to be considered a United States citizen because that is exactly what he or she is.

There are over twelve million undocumented immigrants living in the United States. Many came to America to work, go to school, or be reunited with family members who are already residing here. Most migrants want to work and pursue the “American dream”. There are many barriers for residents to achieving success at the work and life balance. People have sacrificed many things in order to improve the circumstances of their family in the future. Most parents do anything they can for their child to have a brighter future. However, immigrants are having to leave their families behind in Mexico to take the dangerous path to the United States to find work that can provide for their children back at home. It is difficult for a person to make the choice of whether or not to go to the United States for work to have better opportunities, or to stay with their families and struggle throughout their life. According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, American citizens have certain responsibilities such as paying taxes, serving on a jury when called upon, and defending the country if the need should arise (Citizenship Rights and Responsibilities). Although not all citizens live up to these responsibilities, undocumented immigrants never do. Instead, illegal immigrants reap the rewards of living in America and depend largely on programs funded by tax-paying citizens. The anonymous author of Why Illegal Immigration is Bad for America, a blog post written in May of 2011, argues that illegal immigrants receive “tens of billions of dollars worth of free education benefits and free health care benefits” (Why Illegal Immigration is Bad for America). Immigration is the movement from one location to another to live there permanently. This topic has been usually been associated with sociology to better explain how it affects people, cultures and societies.
