Most children grow up playing card games. It starts out with card games like Go Fish and other matching games and turns into strategic trading card games such as Yu-Gi-Oh and pokemon. Kids usually stop playing these types of card games. Some children want to continue to play the games as they grow into their adult years, but is faced with obstacles like peer pressure and parent’s ideals and worry whether they should do what they want or do what they feel is expected of them. Anything in life could be a productive lifestyle including things from one’s childhood such as a simple card game.
Card games is looked at as something that is done in someone's childhood. It is natural for someone to grow up and have a change in their interest. Society has views on what a certain age group should do and how they should act. Most teens want to hang out with their friends, go out on dates, play video games, go to parties, work, and/or focus on their studies. As an adult it is expected of you to find a career and build a life around it with a family. There is no room for childish things such as card games. It is a natural change in focus as one gets older. The problem is the way people live their life is not the same as the next person.
People enjoy playing card games. Some like the strategic part of the games, others like the artwork on the cards, and some are just good at it and don’t want to stop. This does not make them different from other kids, but they just show a different interest than others. Due to this a type of peer pressure is put on that kid who likes to play card games. Some of their friends grew out of it and want the person to like what they do and leave behind as something that is viewed as childish. Others is bullied by b...

... someone is going to be against or doubt that you can do it. They did not do the research and put in the time you did in choosing what you want to do. A trading card game have similar characteristics of many things that is applauded by people like sports and dealing with money, but not seen as a great thing one should spend their time doing. All lifestyles has their own positives and negatives. One lifestyle could be better than another, but people do better when they’re doing something they enjoy to do. The only way that work is if you do your best at whatever it is you want in life. It is good to follow your own road and not a path that is laid out for you by someone else's ideals and standards because you have your best interest in mind. Whether it is card games or anything else nothing you do should be considered a waste of time. In the end the choice is yours.
... games do have an important and distinct impact on the psychological development of children. Some of the positive effects of social, educational, cognitive, and physical uptake are substantial and far outweigh the occasional negative showing of aggression and lethargic behavior. As with all things, the situation and content should always be considered, especially in the developing stages of young minds. With the landscape of the video game industry changing year-by-year, there are constantly more dimensions of this puzzle needing to be assessed. However, there has already been a shift in their potential effects even as recently as the past 10 years. With more research in this field, we can start to note trends (relative to sex and age) and begin to create and environment where children enjoy the process of growing up while developing good health and social habits.
Childhood is often an age of innocence. It’s a time of learning how to get along in a big world. It’s a time in which friends grow up and discover who they are and who they want to be. Childhood is the foundation of our lives. This is when we establish rituals and rules that can be useful throughout our lives. Sometimes these rules can be learned though a simple child’s game.
“The monster a child knows best and is most concerned with is the monster he feels or fears himself to be.” – Satoshi Tajiri creator of Pokémon. The Pokémon franchise is all about monsters, though not in the typical sense of the word. From cute and cuddly to fierce and intimidating, the cast of Pokémon monsters is unique in its approach to entice children. Pokémon holds the title of second highest grossing gaming franchise of all time along with the world record of “Most Photosensitive Epileptic Seizures Caused by a Television Show” (Bulbapedia, 2002). Though hugely popular, Pokémon has had its fair share of controversies and been critiqued more than any other video game. It’s been blamed for violent behavior in kids, corruption of instilled parental values, and distracting kids from the “real world.” Pokémon’s rampant takeover of childhood culture is still active and producing some interesting findings. It’s easy to find negatives associated with Pokémon, but the real interest is in the positive effects it is having. The positive growth Pokémon encourages may make this video game much more than just a hobby.
Gentiles explain the positive and negative effects of video games on children. Gentile warns that kids are spending more time playing a video game every day and parents need to do something about it before it goes out of hand. Gentile also does several types of surveys and experiments on children one that plays for eight hours while another plays for five hours. The author agrees that kids today are spending excessively much time in front of a game system and parents are not doing anything about it to stop it. Gentile also suggests that if parents do not do anything about it bad thing will happen to their kids including having aggressive behavior.
First of all, video games are very addictive mainly. Usually, young people prefer action and violent games. For them it’s fun, but they don’t realize that it can be a weapon to change their behavior through society. On example is one of my cousins who had 10 years old when he began playing
For many teens, a violent game is nothing more than just a part of their daily life. Research has shown that these games are nothing more than a distraction that could potentially benefit kids. Yet some people still believe that these games are detrimental to teens. These games do not always directly correlate with violent actions in their daily life. Kids should be allowed to be involved in violent role playing games because the games can help students develop organization skills, teach dedication, create memories, and teach them how to be responsible.
Kids will look at a game and copy everything from it. Kids don’t know any better they think everything. Teens would play games all day until one day they would lose it and jus take a gun and kill everyone around them or that’s in their way. Game makers really shouldn’t make violent games because of those reasons they don’t think that a game could harm anyone life THINK AGAIN! Games are really harmful. Game makers think oh this game can’t do anything it can’t really mess up a child’s mind and plus they can’t get them anyway its rated R. a parent would still get a rated R game for a child if that child or teen is spoiled.
First of all it is important to specify what exactly children are being exposed to when playing these games. There are several controversial topics inside of mature rated video games, most notably being violence and gore. According to the Entertainment Software Rating Board, or the ESRB, there are over eighteen thousand video games featuring violence and gore, several of which feature realistic looking human characters fighting and even killing other human characters. Another controversial topic in video games is the harsh language. The ESRB notes that an astounding twenty-eight thousand video games have language that someone could find offensive. Many children are younger than ten when they begin to play video games and being exposed to offensive language could start the child to using similar inappropriate language. Approximately the same number of video games have drug or alcohol abuse. In the majority of games containing drugs or alcohol a character will use them with little to no consequence, being completely unrealistic possibly making a child believe they could use the same d...
When one hears the word video games what is normally thought of? “Donkey Kong” possibly, or maybe the newer games like “Call of Duty” (COD) or “Halo” and “Grand Theft Auto” (GTA). Either way video games have gone though many advancements over the years. Since back in the 80’s when arcade games and games like “Donkey Kong” were around games could only go linearly up and down or left and right. For insistence in “Super Mario” the character could not move backwards only forwards and up and down (jumping). Now when looking back to those old, classic games they seem cheap, glossy and even not appealing to the new gamers of the current generation. This is because of the new development in games, such as, “Lara Croft Tomb Raider” where the graphics, sounds, vibrations from the controller makes the game so realistic. It’s almost as if those playing are in the game and are experiencing what ever it is the main character is going through. These games however fun and realistic they are, seem have a bad side affect to the youth. Games like GTA can affect the upbringing of young children who play even though they are not yet at a development stage to handle the level of violence in the game. There have been cases where children have reenacted the games, and many children who play start to think that the violence is okay.
The types of games that children play change dramatically compared to early childhood. In addition to the activities that they already play, they start to strive for a challenge. Middle childhood is the time when children acquire skills such as reading and arithmetic. During this time children start to play games that are complicated and rule oriented. Because of these changes, children begin to play games based on strategy such as playing cards and other games that test their mind. They play games such as Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh. These card games require children to count, remember, and plan strategies. By playing these games, children begin to plan consciously, coordinate actions, evaluate their progress, and modify their plans and strategies based on reflection and evaluation.
Video games are often portrayed in a negative manner because they are seen as having an "addictive" quality. Addiction has been defined as "A primary, chronic disease, characterized by impaired control over the use of a psychoactive substance and/or behavior. Despite the wonderful benefits games offer as diversions, spending too much time, to the neglect of normal life duties, and social development with direct contact with others can and often does happen. Clinically, the manifestations occur along biological, sociological, spiritual and especially psychological. Some psychological effects that affect the behaviors are failure to play outdoor games, difficulties in work or school, telling lies to everyone, decreased attention to personal hygiene, decreased attention to family and friends, and disturbances in the sleep cycle. Many video game addicts have strug...
On a more personal note, I think that the misconceptions about gaming have become so solid because they have been passed down through the generations with only a fraction that is taking time to refute them. I believe that gaming is a very effective and ideal way to release stress that we feel as we go on with our lives every day. Even playing a vintage game like Mario can sometimes soothe the stress for me because I often get stressed about the things I am unfamiliar with. In addition, life is filled with challenges no matter what profession or age group someone belongs to. Every school test is a new challenge for me, and gaming can give one that sense of success; the confidence needed to complete that task. It also gives one the ability to be whoever they wish to and not suffer the consequences of it in real life. It is sort of a simulation of the dreams we see. For instance, if I wanted to be a pilot in real life, I could play flight simulation games to boost my confidence and see myself becoming one. This may sound like a long-shot to some, but that I-can-achieve-anything moment can be triggered by the smallest of
Video games have both good and effects, but bad effects were greater. Limiting the time of playing video games and choosing the right type are the solutions of the elimination of bad effects on children. Thus, moderation between playing video games and playing sports or doing extracellular activities will benefit the child. Another important point would be avoiding violent video games because they influence children’s behavior in an aggressive way.
Over the years gaming has become a widely popular aspect of our culture. Kids and teenagers have replaced riding there bike or playing with dolls for video games that connect people together all over the globe .We have all been there at one point and time, there are games for just about anybody. Video games are for all age’s yes us adults love to play them to. Playing video games are fun but not a lot of people realize the impact video games can have on the body physically and mentally. Excessive playing of video games can cause decreased social skills, deterioration in health and increased aggressive behavior.
Majority of games are not designed for educational purposes. However, there are some games that are made for educational to teach ethical/political issues to teenagers through a familiar medium. Teenagers also have to know when to play game and when to stop. It is a wrong time to play games if a teenager hasn’t done his/her homework. And this will result in parents asking their son/daughter to study. There’s no problem of talking about the game with friends. However, there are some people who cannot come out from the “game world” because they are not attached to the real world and ending up killing two policeman in the real world like the incident in Alabama, US in 2003.
