I believe deeply the idea that all children are valued equally by God my Father. In Luke 17, we are told that when dealing with children belonging to him, “It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to stumble.” I believe that stumbling includes any action that we as educators allow or contribute to that makes our students doubt, fail or falter. Aristotle stated “The habits we form from childhood make no small difference, but rather they make all the difference.” With this in mind, a leader must be willing to accept the responsibility for the students and staff that are under their leadership. Building and nurturing the team is the tool for carrying out the vision imagined.
I believe that all students can learn—just not in the same way and at the same pace and sometimes not on the same day. All students should be provided with adequate opportunities, time and support to meet their maximum potential regardless of the obstacles or potential that they may inherit. Often the fruits of the seeds we plant will not grow until the student is ready. I believe that they should have access to the necessary resources in a variety of formats to meet their academic needs as well as encouraging inquiry and curiosity. Students should expect their learning to be facilitated by a teacher who is well prepared, caring, progressive and passionate about their learning
I believe that in order to maximize the contributions of staff, they must feel respected and valued. They are absolutely necessary for the success of the schools vision and should therefore be given the opportunity to offer input in the creation of the school vision.

A personal goal of communication is to never assume the guilt of an employee without including them in the communication process. There are too many opportunities for breakdown of communication creating misunderstandings to be too quick to judge.
I believe that change is hard—but change is sometimes necessary. I believe that systemic change “just for the sake of change” is a waste of resources and instructional opportunities. I consider myself progressive but not trendy. The need for systemic change should be determined based on valid research. However, this shouldn’t keep an administrator from making individual choices differentiate according to learner needs. Transitioning thru change can be made easier when those affected understand the need for change.
